  1. Oh gawd no..."wife-beater shirt" is used all over America, too. Has been for decades.
  2. 100 million brackets just went up in smoke! What an upset!!!!
  3. ^^^ A little reverse psychology Stryder?
  4. Walter, you can see by the lack of traffic on this thread why I don't create a bracket challenge for the forum. Not even Rick seems interested in making picks. For the sake of comparison, who you got? What's your Final Four look like? Any upset specials? Bracket #1: Michigan St. over Baylor Bracket #2: Michigan St. over Villanova Bracket #3: Kentucky over Duke Bracket #4: Kansas over North Carolina
  5. Vanderbilt...Pac 12 with too many teams...Tulsa...yeah, plenty of crap the NCAA let in besides Syracuse, no doubt. As for Boeheim, I know there is no love lost between them but I feel the NCAA threw Syracuse a bone after Boeheim's "penalize me but don't penalize the kids" whine. With the level of college basketball play a crap-shoot after years of one-and-done recruiting, I think the odds are getting stronger that a #16 will knock off a #1. In fact, on one of my sheets I have Holy Cross knocking off Oregon and Hampton upsetting Virginia. My Final Four for one of my sheets is a crazy-looking UConn, Baylor, Pittsburgh, and Michigan St. But then I have Duke, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Michigan St. in another.
  6. Tony Stewart the race car driver? We are going to the St. Patrick's Day show.
  7. Much like Jimmy Page at the Whiskey in 1969, I have had to curtail my Springsteen shows from three to one due to illness.
  8. ^^^MONMOUTH GOT FUCKED BY THE NCAA WHILE THEY KISSED BOEHEIM'S ASS! That's how Syracuse got in. In the middle of bracketology myself...finished two brackets and working on a third. Strangely, I do have Syracuse and Maryland winning their first-round games while I have USC losing to Providence.
  9. Forgot to mention bumping into Billy Gibbons as we were coming out of the Johnny Marr concert. Had no idea he was such a fan of Marr.
  10. Happy National Cereal Day Paul!!! The only one I know who loves cereal as much as pc is Calvin. Here are Calvin's 5 tips on what makes a perfect bowl of cereal. http://blogs.gocomics.com/2016/03/5-elements-to-create-the-perfect-bowl-of-cereal-as-told-by-calvin.html?utm_source=fb&utm_medium=socialmarketing&utm_content=5elementstocreatetheperfectbowlofcerealastoldbycalvin-blog&utm_campaign=social
  11. I keep tellin' people...Los Angeles is an international foodie's dream. There are more regional and national cuisines than you can shake a stick at here. Every immigrant group brings its cuisine and adds it to the smorgasbord. Grits have been around in Los Angeles for as long as I can remember. Blacks and other migrants from the South established Soul and Deep South cooking here decades ago. Try it in tacos with a mango-pineapple salsa...it's fab.
  12. LAKERS WIN!!!! And cover the 17.5 point spread hehe!!! If you took the Lakers and the points, congratulations on your betting acumen. I think Golden State was feeling the effects of enjoying the L.A. nightlife Saturday night...maybe a little too much partying hehe. I was just going to the game to pay my respects to Kobe in his farewell season and see in person the current "Greatest Show on Earth". Never did it ever occur to me that the Lakers would actually win! Holy time machine, it really was like 10-20-30 years ago. Lakers are the first sub-.200 team to beat a .900 team in NBA history. Who the fuck is Huertas and where did he come from? The backcourt of Russell and Jordan Clarkson was a revelation. Nick Young still does some annoying things on the court but he had a decent game. His nickname still sucks. As for Kobe, at least he played...but then, being this was a nationally televised game, I figured he would no matter what his injuries are. He did not play much...20 minutes or so...and you can see why it is time for him to retire, but the crowd still ate it up. Even Jack Nicholson was back in his usual courtside seat. So happy to witness one of the few highlights in this miserable season. Golden State is still ahead of the 1996 Bulls pace to break 72 wins for the season.
  13. Plasticgod's four David Bowie pieces in this month's Laluzapalooza show.
  14. One of the pieces in the Laluzapalooza art show is this tribute to Lemmy by Mary Martinez.
  15. JOHNNY FUCKIN' MARR!!! Outstanding show. The setlist was impeccable. Plenty of Johnny Marr solo stuff along with choice nuggets from The Smiths and Electronic...and a surprise cover of Depeche Mode's "I Feel You", where they really cranked up the guitar riff. "Bigmouth Strikes Again" brought the house down, "There Is A Light..." was a religious experience, and "How Soon Is Now?" was heavy as fuck and Johnny did a nice extended solo. His vocals were so good, you didn't really miss Morrissey at all. Coming out of the show into the rain made it even more perfect...it was like we actually were in Manchester.
  16. Most of my recent concerts have been small ones involving friends and whatnot...VUM, Miranda Lee Richards, etc...but now some big ones are coming up. Saturday March 5: Johnny Marr @ El Rey Theatre March 8: Animal Collective @ Fonda Theatre March 11: Loreena McKennitt @ Theatre at the Ace Hotel March 15, 17, and 19: Bruce Springsteen & the E Street band @ LA Sports Arena March 24: David Gilmour @ Hollywood Bowl March 26: Wolfmother @ Fonda Theatre April 15: Iron Maiden @ LA Forum I feel like the Concert Year has finally begun in earnest. Unfortunately, I have to miss tonight's Lucinda Williams concert at UCLA due to work.
  17. Golden State @ Lakers this Sunday. The Warriors final appearance in L.A. and last time playing Kobe Bryant. I plan on being there.
  18. There was "Silence of the Lambs"...and that's about it. As a genre, horror gets even less recognition from the Academy than comedy or sci-fi. The 1933 classic "King Kong" didn't even get a single nomination for the Academy Awards for that year. Best Picture went to the maudlin and near-unwatchable today "Calvacade".
  19. A day late and a dollar short...Happy Anniversary to Mr. & Mrs. Walter! Enjoy your Spring Training trip with ebk.
