  1. This would be a great movie. I could totally see it Great writing!
  2. "Can you tell us the story, of when fishing boats were out at sea and this wasnt a tourist town?"
  3. In the movie, the song remains the same, there is grant yelling at venue management over bootleg merchandise....minimal shit really. Then you have a guy in oakland ca trying to do his job and maybe too much....again over minimal stuff. I guess overreactions were peter grant's way.
  4. Been blasting presence to and from work all week and have been enjoying the trebley guitar solos, actually my eardrums have been electrocuted and its great. Its seems like jimmy followed the presence solo tone, on the next record with evening, suarez, hot dog, crawl....then again i always had the treble up a bit, bass back a bit and loud.
  5. There was definite mismanagement in that situtation! "if" bonham was roped into it by grant, that was a huge mistake by grant. Of course the whole thing should have never happened, cooler heads should have prevailed. Stupid situation.... Maybe free led zeppelin memorabilia, souvenirs and t shirts for everyone backstage would have made everyone happy.
  6. Double vision was a great record.
  7. "I am gonna tip this fucking table over....if i dont get french fries."
  8. I agree, but there is zooma, them crooked vultures and even the master at being unheavy....mighty rearranger, PLANT.
  9. I can totally relate to cheering on jimmy page in 1993 with the coverdale page record, i listened to it nonstop along with all the new grunge rock...,which was different and the biggest breath of fresh air for hard rock music, since mtv and the whole 80s. But as the years went on, i lost interest with long term listening, after the page plant era. Yet i still listen to coverdale page every once in awhile and enjoy it. Obviously, it kicks ass sonically....but i listen to the firm, much much more than coverdale page.
  10. "Why is there no kids menu...all i wanted was a cheeseburger and french fries. I know its a special occasion and a scenic restaurant...but there is gonna be a temper tantrum in about five fucking minutes, if i don't get a cheeseburger."
  11. I guess bill did not sign a privacy clause with page and plant in their contracts......or his handshake did not include that either. Either priming for a book, or bullshit, or two sides to every story.
  12. I can't quit you baby, misty mountain hop, walters walk One of the things thats amazing about led zep and john bonham, is that he is either the foundation or the focal point. Then with listening for years, there are songs where you can hear he and jpj together better and songs where its bonzo and pagey better and its always interesting. So cool
  13. I think with led zeppelin, it was most about building a band...as an influence. Which can be most commercially compared to the successful grunge bands of the 90s. I do not see jimmy page as a virtuoso after 73, i see him more of an artist using a guitar in broad instrumental movements within a band.
  14. Cheers It was great and i actually find myself listening to more of the 95 shows lately....and going back to the cd single b side of, walking into clarksdale to get my 98fix. I have favored 98 for way too long...theres great live 95shows.
  15. Yup, i think it was only greenpeace that was actually touring with them. Again, cool that jimmy wore that greenpeace shirt, i used to have the same one. Looking back, the 90s really morphed into a cool decade....even it commercially marked some kind of an end for rock music.
  16. Cool that jimmy page was wearing a greenpeace t-shirt at the end of the show. I gotta say that i also get nostalgic looking back at the shows i saw in the 90s.
  17. She has probably been mentioned before here, but for anyone who likes retro, country, rockish...Nikki Lane
  18. I think Page and Plant referenced the material having to be very good, for them ever to be a band again.
  19. Flo Morrisey and Mathew White, look at what the light did now interesting combo
  20. This band has been standout material on college radio, just stunning. I like the grateful dead treatment of this song here. For a more rock version, with power pouty singing, check out sheryl crows cover.
  21. I have commented on other threads, but i think megadeth has the middle eastern riffs and apocolyptic lyrics market cornered for decades now. Ofcourse they are more than that...bringing that energy to most all their songs and great cover songs. Most recently on the megadeth and metallica albums, i like to hear them revisiting thrash metal while combining this ultra use of the double bass drum pedal, as a total part of riffs and rhythmic parts of songs....in totally intense guitar and drum songs that people should be blown away by...great work.
  22. One of the things that always amazed me, was that part of bob segers journey into music, was him playing a "bass ukeleyle"....of all instruments and of paths that he took as a singer and songwriter...
  23. I have a vinyl copy of knebworth from the 80s, nice glossy photo cover of the band in the field. Definitely an audience recording, was always a fun listen except for some major skipping on my records. That being so, i listened more of the good sides (sides that didnt skip) records than my others which were being preserved for their potential thousand dollar value one day. Also, even listened to skipped sides, for certain songs. In the 90s i bought 2 cds with only segments of earls court. I think that was a time in bootlegging where they thought, it was such a limitless or stupid bliss to the market that still....there was no quality control even with compact discs. So, no advice here, only that most material online today has to be very good compared to 80s and 90s.
