  1. Don't forget Bachelor Party, definitely one of Hanks' crowning achievements. The soundtrack also included the then still unreleased R.E.M. classic "Windout".
  2. It's still playing in my area but you may be right. At least one friend I know of that saw it was less than impressed and one news story I just saw referred to it as a "flop".
  3. Larry Crowne is out. Just go to the website for the movie and plug in your zip code to find a theatre near you where it's playing.
  4. With services like Spotify, I suspect music will be going the same way as movies in the future, to a totally streaming service. I'm not a member but from what I understand, once you sign up you can have music sent to any device that has an internet connection.
  5. Are you referring to music movies? That's the only reason I can think of that you'd want to buy music on DVD unless you're referring to audio DVDs with surround sound. From what I understand, the next big thing (which is already happening) will be streaming movies online which completely eliminates the need for discs (whether they be DVDs or Blu-Ray) altogether.
  6. I've seen the same thing here. The folks that are so quick to condemn the 80s blame it on the music that was popularized by MTV yet they're the very same ones that get misty eyed about when MTV was "good" back in the 80s.
  7. Before renting this I had a very hard time remembering if I'd seen it before. Since the Die Hard movies all follow pretty much the same formula it was hard to tell from the description on the box. Thankfully, it was one I hadn't seen. Lots of edge of your seat stuff here but they ratcheted up the action so much towards the end that the final sequence felt almost anti-climatic. Still, a great movie, especially if you're a fan of the previous Die Hard flicks and like action movies in general.
  8. 30 years of MTV in 3 minutes courtesy of Gawker.com.
  9. Click on the image to listen to a stream of Slave Ambientthe new album from the War on Drugs which is out August 16th on the Secretly Canadian label. While there you can also watch a video for the song "Come to the City" and read an interview with frontman Adam Granduciel.
  10. I missed the opening act (which I believe was Joan Jett & the Blackhearts) at the show I saw at the Dean Dome in Chapel Hill due to a couple of party poopers who didn't even want to be there. One of them also caused me to miss the last portion of the show when Plant broke out some Zep because they insisted upon leaving early.
  11. For anyone that was ever a fan of MTV's 120 Minutes, it's back on the air on MTV2. To watch the first new episode click here.
  12. West End London, 1949, Piccadilly Circus looking up Shaftsbury Avenue
  13. Coda isn't a choice in the poll and for good reason, it's an odds and ends collection and shouldn't be a considered a studio album unto it's own like the others listed.
  14. Thanks, it's classic Cash and sums up his persona and what he stood for musically (and otherwise) to a t.
  15. Anytime a musician dies their catalog sales soar. Amy Winehouse is no exception.
  16. Southern Culture on the Skids w/ The Moaners at the Berkeley Cafe in Raleigh, NC.
  17. They appear to be two very similarly titled but completely different songs:
  18. Thread for the Feat here.
  19. Arlo's cover of it has definitely received more airplay. I guess it's one of those cases where the original version isn't as well known even though Steve Goodman has always been well regarded as a songwriter. He also wrote "You Never Even Call Me By My Name" (with John Prine, who refused a songwriting credit at the time) even though most people associate it David Allan Coe.
  20. CB radios still come in handy for long distance road trips. Sometimes just for info like where the "smokeys" are lurking and traffic tie-ups but mostly just to listen to the truckers jabber. Very entertaining.
