  1. Real nice review (or more accurately, preview) here of the upcoming new Dylan album Tempest (which drops on September 11th) from Allan Jones, the editor of Uncut.
  2. Thanks for the reviews, they were much appreciated. After hearing "Carey" on XM/Sirius' Deep Tracks channel recently I went in search of a clip of it (see below) and in the process I happened upon "Free Man In Paris" from the Shadows and Light DVD.
  3. I get the praise but in what sense did you mean they were a "one-off"? Perhaps I misunderstood what you meant.
  4. Missed the first time around but watched it last night when I stumbled upon it after looking up a version of "Carey". Good stuff. I should probably get around to picking up that Shadows and Light DVD someday.
  5. Can't say I agree with that. There are lots of other artists out there that are just as revered as Led Zeppelin, if not more so. It's not as though their popularity happened in a vacuum.
  6. "I ordered fries. Where the hell are my fries?"
  7. Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins on Rush from Fuse TV.
  8. To the contrary, it took just a matter of seconds as it's been making the rounds lately since we recently celebrated 43rd anniversary of man landing on the moon.
  9. If you go back to the original post that started this thread there are no provisions whatsoever as to what is and isn't allowed in this thread. I see no harm at all in sharing memes, photos, clips or actual jokes. If it's funny and people want to share it, that was the original intention of the thread. With that in mind, I give you "We Are On the FUCKING Moon", it's been around for a while but that doesn't stop it from being one of the more humorous things I've seen in a while: http://youtu.be/BW6DuPQzyBU
  10. Here's a trailer (which is not yet on YouTube, at least that I could find) for Man of Steel, which isn't coming out until next summer. The trailers (according the linked article there are at least two) are presently showing during screenings of The Dark Knight Rises.
  11. If you would be so kind as to clear your inbox I've got a message I would like to send you. Thanks.

  12. In reference to the Joker accusations, according to this article that's not true, at least as far as being in makeup is concerned: "In New York City, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said: "It clearly looks like a deranged individual. He has his hair painted red. He said he was the Joker, obviously the enemy of Batman." Oates would not confirm that information, but did say he spoke to Kelly. Asked whether Holmes had makeup to look like the Joker, Oates said: "That to my knowledge is not true." In regards to the media somehow being responsible, I've never believed in that sort of reasoning, especially since it's been proven time and time again that it's not. A Batman movie no more played a part in this massacre than A Catcher In the Rye did in Mark David Chapman's assassination of John Lennon or the White Album did in the atrocities that the Manson family carried out. These people were nuts and would have carried out these acts of violence with or without the presence of books, movies or music. If indeed you believe a Batman movie is all it took to push this guy over the edge, what exactly do you propose should be done to prevent such tragedies in the future, ban all media? If it was somehow proven that a movie like The Dark Knight Rises was all it takes to set these lunatics off, don't you think we would see this sort of thing on a massive scale? The media might make for a convenient scapegoat but it's not what's at the center of these sorts of tragedies, it's the mental instability of the perpetrators and in the case of Columbine and similar cases, very questionable parenting.
  13. Someone that is mentally deranged (as this person obviously is) will carry out this sort of behavior no matter what. As we all witnessed with Columbine when the press tried to use Marilyn Manson as a scapegoat, these acts of violence aren't the fault of the media whether they be Manson, a supposedly subliminal message on a Judas Priest record, video games or a Batman movie.
  14. Seth Avett and Bob Crawford of The Avett Brothers covering Jim Croce's "Operator".
  15. The Civil Wars cover The Smashing Pumpkins. http://youtu.be/vNGhUM98YLQ
  16. From this year's X-Games
  17. I wore the grooves off of the album of the same name back in the day but other than a quick glimpse of this I caught on laser disc in the 80's, I've never seen the entire movie. For being just under an hour long they manage to work in lots of material, including a standout performance of "Xanadu" as well as other now classic tunes from the Rush back catalog.
  18. Cool photograph of photographer Ian Ruhter developing a photograph. If you haven't checked out his work yet you can do so here.
  19. I'm not agitated or uptight in the least. I was just explaining why I didn't feel that my avatar is "low brow" or offensive.
  20. Are you offended by this image? If so, you might want to prepare yourself for another board member that posts here quite a bit.
  21. I can't say I'd consider it "low brow" in the least, particularly when it's one of the most recognized and honored photographs in the history of music. Hell, even Johnny himself used it in this ad from Billboard back in the 90's when he won a Grammy for his album American Recordings despite the record being shunned by commercial Country radio. It's also rather ironic that someone would refer to the image as "lowbrow" on a Zeppelin site unless you're just not in the know about their extracurricular activities back in the day. It's absolutely tame in comparison.
