  1. Because you obviously don't know how to operate the Poll function on this board. As for the last choice in the poll did you actually intend for that to be two separate choices because "None All" doesn't make a lick of sense. In the future, I suggest using the "Preview Post" feature, that way you can work the kinks out before actually making a post.
  2. Thanks, I missed that but had a feeling it'd already been posted here. At any rate, the YouTube clip has been removed but the link I posted (to DailyMotion) is good, at least for the time being.
  3. I've never really been a Prince fan but lots of folks I know have been raving about this unedited version of "Purple Rain".
  4. Not a huge fan of it but I've heard some stuff by Tricky and Portishead that I like.
  5. As I've mentioned, I'm not necessarily a fan of Adele's but I know of lots of folks who have great taste in music (including some people on this board) that are fans. That's an awful lot of people who like her who supposedly are fans of "music for people that don't like music". If you were referring to Nickelback, I could understand that sentiment. Then again, I know of some folks with impeccable taste in music who are also fans of Nickelback. It's not my thing but apparently lots of people like it.
  6. I've been pretty indifferent to most everything I've heard by Dr. Dog so far but that's really changed with most of the tracks I've heard from their new album, including this tune.
  7. I was reminded of this tune when an old friend of mine included it in one of his recent podcasts. Can't say I remember much (if anything) about the band but I definitely remember the song.
  8. The inner sleeve thing is something I never knew anything about until I joined this board. I may have heard about it way back when In Through the Out Door first came out but I probably forgot about it. By the way, I've never tried it (though I'm sure it works).
  9. I don't know that his "ambition is gone" but he's obviously not in any big hurry to release any new music. I gathered from that interview that part of the reason for the website was that it would give him an outlet to share new music with fans. Who knows what he may have in store. Personally, I'd prefer a complete album in physical form (compact disc or vinyl) but at this point I would be happy just to see him release anything. This has been discussed many times before but perhaps part of the problem is that some musicians' that are Page's age just don't know what the most effective way would be to release new music in this day and age. I know that some of them find it to be incredibly frustrating because some people won't even go to the trouble of buying a new release when they can just download it off of the internet for free.
  10. This was taken at June Jam at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, NC in 1979. In addition to Van Halen, the other bands on the bill were Poco, Boston and the Outlaws. The crowd had grown pretty restless leading up to Van Halen's set which led to everyone throwing plastic cups up in the air and eventually, at the stage. During Van Halen's set a train of cups hit Roth in the head, causing him to stop mid-song to address the crowd. He threatened to drag the "next motherfucker that throws a cup" up on stage to whip his ass. He also threatened to stop the show altogether if people kept throwing cups at the stage. After that, the cup tossing continued but no one threw any more at the stage. Unfortunately, things had gotten to the point where people were throwing nearly anything they could get their hands on. Up where I was seated in the bleachers I saw someone that had been hit in the head by a George Dickel bottle which left a pretty nasty gash. Thankfully, everyone calmed down considerably after Dave addressed the crowd. Fast forward to 2008 and my second Van Halen concert. This one was also in Raleigh and also included David Lee Roth. During "Ice Cream Man" someone got the bright idea of rushing the stage to give Eddie Van Halen a hug. Considering how tight security was at that concert, it's a wonder they got on the stage at all.
  11. In the interview Page did a year or so ago, he gave the impression that he would be uploading some new music to his website one song at a time. Not sure when or if this will ever happen but I would imagine he has something recorded as he's been alluding to new music for several years now.
  12. No, I don't. Like many of the photos I post here, I found it on the Imgur site.
  13. Perhaps but I still found it worthy of posting. Whether it's old news to you (or others) or not it's obvious lots of people aren't aware of it.
  14. Thanks, I picked up both of these yesterday as well as Nada Surf's new one. I like all of them but my favorite straight out of the gate is Sharon Van Etten's Tramp. I'm sure it wouldn't be to everyone's taste around here but I love it.
  15. He may have used a gun to make his point but nothing about his manner struck me as the guy being a "yokel". He merely followed through with exactly what he told his daughter he would do.
