  1. Hats off to Led Zeppelin Rarities for this excellent remaster of the new board tape.
  2. I had recently been listening to the Led Zeppelin I companion disc of Paris Oct 1969. It got me wondering (again!). I realize the Osaka board tapes are incomplete and they are not multitracks, but Paris 1969 is not a multitrack either as far as I know. So, it seems to me that Jimmy could work on the Osaka board tapes and produce a very strong release. I know he has said he wanted to release stuff that was not bootlegged but the Paris Oct 1969 show was out for years before the official release.
  3. It is cool to hear how parts of the Dazed jam point toward the section that built into Pennies from Heaven the next night. You can hear the living, breathing artistic process as it evolves and flows through time. This whole release is just stunning. The band is so tight, so completely masterful, and everything flows organically. Jimmy said it best - tight but loose. And dancing on the precipice.
  4. When I first learned that Celebration Day was going to be on the new soundboard release I thought now that is going to be really something else. Well, it is even more astonishing than I could have imagined. If anyone ever tells you that Zeppelin was not the greatest rock band ever play them this. Absolutely one of a kind. Bursting at the seams with energy and unrestrained virtuosity.
  5. I am still reeling from the first three songs I have heard from the new 9/28 board. What a time to be listening to live Zeppelin! Just in the past few years we have heard the 9/29/71, 9/28/71 Black Dog, 3/21/75, and 3/24/75 boards, and now this. Cherish the moment and enjoy.
  6. That is just absolutely glorious. And that version of Stairway. And the Stomp. WOW. It is amazing to me that this is now available after 49 years. I find it hard to believe that I can be utterly blown away by a new release after collecting so much live Zeppelin since the 70s.
  7. Thanks for sharing such a great interview. So much detail. For those of you who may not have heard how amazing the resulting Fairport House Full live album is, check out these clips. I am partial to the instrumentals on this album because the guys in Fairport could not really sing, especially compared to Sandy Denny who was with them only a few years. But my goodness could they all play and this recording is fantastic.
  8. I was just listening to that Fairport Convention live album the other day. The liner notes say that "Led Zeppelin stopped by to destroy a few ballads" and that Zeppelin joined Fairport in some "obscene Midlands drinking ritual". And then I noticed that in "Led Zeppelin Day By Day" (2016) by Marc Roberty it mentions this gig. He says that all 3 nights of the Fairport gigs were professionally recorded by Wally Heider, although none of the tracks Zeppelin played on were released - well, obviously ! But he also notes that the tapes from all three nights reside in Universal Records' tape archive. He does not specifically say that he knows the Zeppelin/Fairport songs are on the tape but he does imply it a bit. I have no way of knowing if Roberty is a reliable source here because he does not cite any source on this entry. Does anyone else have any information about what may have been recorded or was actually recorded when Zeppelin joined Fairport on the stage?
  9. From 1947 Great intro then Dizzy blows the roof off at 0:19
  10. Great version with the mandolin. SteveZ98 your version is fantastic. Can't wait to listen to the whole song in your version. Thanks!
  11. photos of the new 9-28-71 soundboard CD are posted at Royal Orleans
  12. That is outstanding !! - and someone just posted the whole thing in flac files on Guitars101.com. Great story about how the original tapes had been considered lost.
  13. I was listening to my Jethro Tull Pandora station and I heard Zeppelin. That is somewhat unexpected, but was really odd was that the song played was For Your Life. Then a few tracks later it played All My Love. I can't decide which of those 2 songs is more unlike Jethro Tull.
  14. Page mentioned this band in a few interviews back in the 70s. Back then it was difficult to find their albums from 1967-68. This is their second album I think.
