  1. With the focus on bass and drums I get a very Zooma/Thunderthief feel here.
  2. Gives an interesting perspective on this track. Especially the last section. Interesting comment in YouTube about how Zeppelin was the only rock band with a Motown bass player.
  3. Fantastic ! If you think about it, just this one song shows all the reasons Zeppelin were unparalled as a hard rock band. Of course they played many other kinds of music superbly, but just thinking about hard rock - this shows they were miles ahead of anyone else then or since.
  4. June 21, 1977 Just before the famous "We've had the guitar lesson!" comment: "Play some music!" then another guy says "I'd go for that man !"
  5. I was surprised to hear Ian Gillan say in the AXS-TV Classic Albums episode that Blackmore did not like this.
  6. There is about 10 seconds of silence at the beginning of each of these. "I'd like to introduce you to Ariel Bender!"
  7. 1974. A brilliant glam rock mini opera in 5 minutes. Mott madness: From the March 1979 Ian Hunter album that brought us Cleveland Rocks and Wild East.
  8. Back then I knew nothing about the rehab until it was the big story with the 1989 album. I was fortunate to see him three times. Once in 1986, once in 1988 opening for Robert Plant, and then in 1989, right after In Step came out, with Johnny Winter opening for SRV. All the shows were great. He was truly a force of nature.
  9. LedZepFilm just posted this today. He gives more detail over at Royal Orleans.
  10. Zep, Beatles, Floyd If Yes and Tull were on the list they would be my choices with Zep.
  11. Strider thanks for the memories. I made a big mistake by not keeping my rock magazines from the 70s.
  12. I had not listened to this in quite a while. I forgot how good the sound is. The bass and drums sound amazing.
  13. First bootleg I heard was BBC 1971 on FM radio in the late 70s. Recorded it on cassette, then made a back up copy since cassettes don't last. A few years later I was browsing the "import" section in a record store and saw an album with a black cover and the four symbols in white on the front, no other text anywhere. I asked if I could check it out on the store turntable. They said sure. When I dropped the needle I was blown away. Later I learned it was BBC Playhouse Theatre June 1969. My next two were For Badgeholders Only June 23 1977 and Knebworth. The Knebworth had a very cheap paper cover glued to a white cardboard sleeve, and it didn't sound right to me. I think that version was running too fast and the sound was thin. The Badgeholders was a treasure. This was back when I had no idea what boots were good or what to look for. I think the next one after that was Persistence - Kezar 73 - with that very cool cover sending up Presence.
