  1. Plant looks a bit nervous. "You can't write that can you?"
  2. Boleskinner are you kidding? That's the only proper tour never knowingly bootlegged! I would be absolutely over the moon if something emerged from either Scandinavia '68 or one of those early UK gigs. As the least documented shows those are like gold dust to me.
  3. I'd say, because Woody fitted in. You can 'ave a larf with him, he won't threaten you as senior pro, he's not a singer, and everyone gets on well with him. If you were being cynical, you'd say this was the moment the Stones realised they had a lucrative future as a heritage act, and thus everyone getting on well was more important than getting a really white hot player. Edit: Strider put it better than me!
  4. This is a very good point. Few knew of the LA / Long Beach tapes before HTWWW either. Page likes springing surprises, so I'm still hopeful. Steve, this is your cue to post the "what are you retarded" clip you always post when this topic comes up...
  5. https://twitter.com/CaigerRob NEW YARDBIRDS MASTER TAPES found, according to this chap. Fourth tweet down
  6. Glyn Johns that is. George doesn't sound that bothered by Zep 1 in that clip does he. More interested in lunch, not surprising given he sounds as stoned as you can be and still be able to distinguish what planet you're on!
  7. I'm glad someone else is prepared to say this. I saw footage of the Stones on their South American tour and my God they sound bad nowadays. Like a bad Stones tribute band.
  8. Playing at The Oval or Lord's has always been a good way to get noticed by the selectors. Playing for Glamorgan or Northants a good way to get ignored. By the way chillum, if it's Stoneman you're referring to, did he not go to Surrey not Essex?
  9. This. I was surprised (even as a Londoner) when I read the Barney Hoskyns book on Zep, especially the chapter on Plant & Bonzo's musical life pre-68. How much snobbery there was towards the Birmingham music scene in London, and how much resentment it caused in Birmingham, not surprising given they were brewing great bands like The Move. To pick another example from sport, Roger Hunt retired from the England team (soccer) because he got dog's abuse from the crowd in London due to replacing the London hero Jimmy Greaves. And this was a player who'd helped the team become World Champion!
  10. Just 180 needed on the last day for a famous victory!! Or I might have started on the Christmas beers early....
  11. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-us-canada-42216297/pontiac-silverdome-stadium-fails-to-implode-in-detroit The stadium that wouldn't die!
  12. Well what a crap day. The rain saved us, suspect if we'd had to bat under lights for another 15 overs we'd have finished the day something like 40-5. Gah!
  13. Despite the bagging we're getting in our media, the decision to bowl first wasn't a bad idea imo. A few quick wickets tomorrow and we can have Australia out for 270-280. Then it's time for our batsmen to do their job, as they didn't in the last Test! Get a big score and put pressure on!
  14. Bris Vegas forecast for Sat & Sunday is rain. Friday is fine tho'
  15. I reckon 2-2, we retain the Ashes. Brisbane a draw, England win Adelaide & Sydney, Australia win Perth & Melbourne.
  16. Totally agree. There's a "what if" right there. Imo getting back with Plant was a unnecessary safety net, just when JP was getting his guitar chops and songwriting abilities back. I rarely play WIC now but play the Coverdale + Page record regularly.
  17. I read in the paper today that Robbie Williams has had to cancel his latest tour dates on medical advice.

Sure Robert will be celebrating with a few drinks tonight, as his beloved Wolves have just gone top of the Championship for the first time since 2009
  19. Brand would be number one on my list. Along with that knob from The Killers. And all of the Kardashians
  20. Ewww. That is an image I'd like to erase from my mind, strong drink is now needed
  21. "Queen + that bloke who looks like Peter Andre" isn't Queen either. As the years go by, and the Stones start to sound like their own tribute band, I'm more convinced than ever that Zeppelin made the right decision. I've said it before, but the MTV era would have ruined the mystique. No more not appearing on TV policy. "and that was Duran Duran and here is Led Zep", nope I just can't conceive of it.
  22. Come on David, it's you isn't it.
