  1. Yeah, I've heard that one for years - with different teams inserted as the subject. Seeing the Cowboys were the fifth highest scoring team in the NFL last year, just another Cowboys hater!
  2. The Song Remains The Same - Knebworth - August 11, 1979
  3. Just was able to watch the F1 Hungary race this week. Wow! Crazy for sure! Hamilton was lucky to come out of it with the points lead. He was a mess! Great start and run by the Ferrari's/Vettel. My boy Riccardo finally looked good, plus I loved the way he took out that pompous Rosberg. It seems like they haven't raced at all this summer. We went to Indy for the Brickyard 400 a few weeks ago, here are some pics from our seats, etc:
  4. The Jays will whip their asses. My Yanks have hit their talent limit I'm afraid. Even the great Girardi can't get out there and be clutch for them....
  5. You know Rick, today is the anniversary of a Jim Palmer no-hitter. Not sure of the year, 1969?
  6. Ready for the Cowboys 1st preseason game tonight vs. San Diego. Looking forward to seeing the rookies and the depth. Don't expect the starters to play much or at all. This defense should be deep with talent, much better than the past 3-4 seasons that's for sure!
  7. Yeah it's been quite a week.... Monday - Alice In Chains @ Hard Rock Live. Quick summary, we've seen them now 4 times (twice with and without Layne) and this was the first time seeing them headline (no opening act either). I think they need to stay as openers. They didn't have the energy to sustain the entire set (which was only 1h 45min). Jerry Cantrell is one of the most underrated musicians in the last 25 years, IMO. But they are much more intense as a 1 hour opener. Tuesday - We went with a couple to the Ampitheatre in Tampa (changes its name every 6 months) and were supposed to have lawn seats. Well, the show didn't sell very well and they put us under the foof in the back, which kinda sucked because it rained earlier and ended up being a beautiful evening with a nice breeze off the Gulf. Anyway, I've never been a big fan of Elvis but they put on a good set. We caught the last half and many people were up out of their seats dancing away. Steely Dan I've been a fan of for years but whenever they come around the tickets always were overpriced, IMO. We picked up a four pack of tickets for a great price of $30 per ticket, so I wasn't going to miss them. It was a thoroughly enjoyable show. Good energy, great crowd vibe, excellent musicianship. Very glad we went - except the traffic on the interstate took what should've been a 45 min trip home and made it 2 1/2 hours, due to overnight construction! Wednesday - hosted a dinner party at our house for my father-in-law's 76th birthday. Today getting prepped and packed up for a cruise leaving tomorrow morning to the Bahamas. Here is the set list for Steely Dan: Cubano Chant (Ray Bryant cover) Black Cow Aja Hey Nineteen Black Friday Time Out of Mind Show Biz Kids Rikki Don't Lose That Number Dirty Work Babylon Sisters Bodhisattva Daddy Don't Live in That New York City No More I Want To (Do Everything for You) (Joe Tex cover) Josie Peg My Old School Reelin' in the Years Kid Charlemagne The Untouchables (Nelson Riddle cover) My Old School was my fav of the night.
  8. This guy was drafted by Rex, that's why they picked him up. As far as being smart, financially I don't believe they have - overpaid for a few of them. I think their offense is going to have trouble with the o-line and tight ends. Plus some of the personalities are going to be a tough mesh in the locker room, IMO. Good luck to 'em.
  9. Tonight seeing Steely Dan along with Elvis Costello and The Imposters @ the Ampitheatre in Tampa.
  10. SAJ has said the rumor he heard was end of 2016 or 2017. Nothing definite, just rumored. Personally I would say 2017 or later would be my best guess, given all of the recent releases. DVD and silvers.
  11. Heading out to the Hard Rock Live tonight to see Alice In Chains. It'll be our 4th time seeing them, second without Layne.
  12. I'm still not convinced they will make the playoffs at all. Like you said, starting pitching....
  13. Been there a number of times myself, Rick. Yeah pit stops are now routinely 12 seconds or less - that's changing 4 tires, adding 20 gallons of fuel, and making adjustments to the chassis. Fun place to spend the day partying and watching some great high speed road racing! Right after yesterday's race they began tearing up the track getting it ready for a complete repave. I'm glad they're pumping more money into it - it guarantees many more years of NASCAR and many other series will race there. My boy had the lead until the last turn when he ran out of gas. He was supposed to run out with two laps to go, but saved about a gallon even while leading the race. It's the first time in like 20 years they didn't have a caution with 30 or less laps to go.... A caution would've allowed him to save more and therefore win. Oh well, he's in The Chase already, is still the points leader, defending champion of the series, and usually has the fastest car pretty much every week. We're heading up to "the track too tough to take", aka Darlington Raceway, over Labor Day weekend to see the return of the Southern 500 to the "Lady in Black" on its longtime traditional weekend date. It will be a total throwback weekend with many cars having special paint schemes, the track being dressed up like its 1972 and many more surprises yet to be announced. Walter Jr's first trip up there.
  14. What? Paul, you're not handing he Yankees the AL East title anymore?
  15. RIP to all-time NASCAR great and analyst Buddy Baker. He was known as the "Gentle Giant" and drove the legendary "Grey Ghost" #28 car to victory lane at the 1980 Daytona 500, which was the first cup race I ever attended. He was one of the greatest story tellers and gave so much back to the sport and was a mentor to so many. Very sad day for the sport and for me personally. RIP Buddy.
  16. "You know LA has he greatest landscape and climate, but New York has the grooviest people" - Jim Morrison, January 17, 1970 Felt Forum, NYC (evening show).

  18. Agreed. Redbeard is a really good music interviewer/host, have enjoyed him and his shows for years.
  19. Yeah, he did say he would have to talk to them about it. So no go then?
  20. I saw on Twitter yesterday that he is considering putting out unreleased Yardbirds circa '67-68 material in the future.
  21. Keep waiting (for the upset)!
