  1. Thankz, man. I might be going to Knebworth at the end of the month. Working out plans. You going? I always loved Jimmy's wild walking (reminds me of Chuck Berry and all). R
  2. John Bonham Jimi Hendrix Brian Jones Django Reindardt Andreas Sevogia Luciano Pavorotti Jaco Pastorious Roy Buchanan Freddie Mercury Randy Rhoads John Entwistle Keith Moon Jim Morrison Elvis George Harrison John Lennon and of course, Ahmet Ertegun that's good for starters (and what a jam session that would be) R
  3. Good to see ya back on the forum, Evster. Yes. Ready to see JP play again (whoever he is with). R
  4. Thanks. You're welcome. I'm sitting behind the guy with his hand raised (second picture in the first photo thread/link). Getting my NAMM photos together. R
  5. http://www.scottymoore.net/nammshow.html http://www.scottymoore.net/dinnerjam.html Here's some from that weekend. I'll find my personal ones and post soon. R
  6. Scotty is something else. I met him a few years ago in Nashville at Summer NAMM. We talked some and shook hands (posed for a few photos). I'll see if I can find them. I met James Burton (Elvis, Rick Nelson, session player for you name it) that same weekend, too (also another influence for Jimmy). He invited me to my friends to Shrieveport, LA, for his birthday concert. He was really cool, too. Amazing guitar players. R
  7. Hey, I'm on vacation the last week of August. I'll see what I can do and let y'all know. Maybe I can get a "night flight" over. R
  8. Yes. His loss was also such a big loss to the record industry and anyone who knew him, knew of his work and his passion for music. He gave artists the opportunity to develop and took chances that most wouldn't or will not. Nowadays, if an artist that's signed to a major label, doesn't instantly sell millions in the first or possibly second record, they are dropped (and left holding the bill to pay back the loan). If that mentality took place in the 70s, 80s or even in the early 90s, artists/bands like U2, Def Leppard, John Mellencamp, Bryan Adams, Tom Petty, KISS, Journey, Metallica, RUSH, etc... would have never have been around to make or release albums like, The Joshua Tree ("With or Without You", "Where The Streets Have No Name", etc..), Hysteria ("Pour Some Sugar On Me", "Love Bites", "Women", "Animal", "Rock It", "Hysteria") , American Fool ("Jack & Dianne", "Hurts So Good"), Reckless ("Heaven", Summer of '69", "Run To You"), Full Moon Fever ("I Won't Back Down", "Free Fallin"), Destroyer ("Beth, "Detroit Rock City", "Shout It Out Loud"), Escape ("Don't Stop Believing", "Open Arms"), The Black Album ("Enter Sandman", "One", Wherever I May Roam"), Moving Pictures ("Tom Sawyer, "Red Barchetta", "Limelight"), etc... which sold/sell multi-millions (as most of these albums were the artists/band's 4th or later albums). There will never be another Ahmet. R

    Pet Peeves

People that constantly try to push their political beliefs on you. People that smack their food (chew with their mouth open). People who follow you too closely from behind (on the interstate) when you're driving above the speed limit. The same people that when they finally get in front of you, slow down and then talk on their cell phones or some other foolish activity. People need to be respectful of others. R
  10. Yes. That's the same documentary, "The House That Ahmet Built", that I mentioned above. Thanks. R
  11. Yes. I've got the DVD at home. It's been a while since I've seen it. Let me watch it again tonight and I can give you a better response. ok? I focused on Jamie Foxx the time I saw it that it wasn't until afterwards that I really didn't think about Ahmet being portrayed in the film. R
  12. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0035664/ Curtis Armstrong portrayed Ahmet in the 2004 Feature film, Ray (starring Jamie Foxx). He's a character actor. In the 80s he played in Revenge of the Nerds, was on Moonlighting (TV series) and in recent years moved in to more serious roles (Ray) while continuing to do tv and film roles. Music Trivia: He went to the same college as musician, Marshall Crenshaw (who portrayed Buddy Holly in the 1986 movie, La Bamba (about Richie Valens). R

  14. I had the strangest dream last night that I was back in high school and Jimmy Page and Robert Plant show up to perform one song by surprise. My band from high school is getting ready to go on and Page and Plant walk in the back room where we are just about to go out to the stage and wish us the best. We're now super nervous as we know they're about to follow us and that they'll win the trophy for best group. R
  15. Happy Birthday, Ahmet!!! We miss you. http://www.myspace.com/ahmeterteguntribute Thank you for everything. R
  16. His cool walks, skips, hand waving (like in "In My Time of Dying"), poses, etc... (let alone is magnificent guitar playing onstage).. He's just The man. R
  17. Me, too!!! I went through it this morning, too. R
  18. If/when they do another one-off, this would be an incredible song to do. R
  19. Thanks. Just making a wish list. Gotta shoot for the stars, right??? Crumbs are fine, too (when it's Zeppelin). R
