  3. john mclaughlin is really one of the best around for what he does steve morse is another who is at the top of the list They can play any style, can read and write music and very nice people, too. R
  4. sounds like multiple shows. yes. R
  5. Yes. I agree. Pearl Jam stole the show. Foos were not bad either. Flaming Lips did a good job, too. Interesting to think that The Who were inducted in VH1's Rock Honors this year. Wouldn't it be interesting if Led Zeppelin are next year's honorees??? The timing would be perfect. I'd go to that concert in a heartbeat (as millions of others, I'm sure). R
  6. hopefully, the one they haven't made yet.... In the meantime, IV (today). Tomorrow, it might be Houses or PG R
  7. I would go see "An Evening of Led Zeppelin music" with the 3 Js if they wanted to perform instrumental pieces of Zeppelin songs. I'm sure others would, too. It'd be a great way to warm up the 3Js and get them out there to the fans. Plant can tag along for the one-offs when he's not on the road or studio with Alison or Strange Sensation. R
  8. Yep, Herman, Lily, Eddie and Grandpa The role of Marilyn is yet to be named... Who would be your choice for Marilyn? R
  9. I thought it was the cast picture for the new Munsters movie. R
  10. Back in those days, pretty much everyone had funny taste in clothes. Remember leisure suits, bellbottoms, butterfly collared shirts, etc...? Maybe Page was into the whole Loch Ness thing (and wanted to look the part)??? R
  11. "Does anyone remember laughter?" --- Plant "I'm just looking for an angel with a broken wing" --- Page "Why'd I eat so many bananas?"--- Bonham http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/j/john_bonham.html "I Have not yet begun to fight" --- JPJ (oh, the other one) R
  12. a recorder (required in music class at school --- 2nd grade as we learned songs like, "Hot Cross Buns") with 3 older brothers who all played guitar, I quickly picked up the guitar. I had a cheapo sears guitar until I became a teenager (13 or so, when my oldest brother bought me one of the very first Squier Stratocasters (it has a low serial number and is sunburst). Over the years, I've collected/add a few guitars as well as other instruments (yamaha drumset, keyboards, Fender Precision Bass, etc... R
  13. Now that The Who are survived by just Pete and Roger and the only survivors of the Beatles are Paul and Ringo, how about the four of them just perform each others numbers and maybe some new stuff??? Ringo's son, Zak is already drumming for them. Pete -- guitar, vocals Roger --- vocals, harmonica, guitar Paul --- bass, vocals Ringo --- drums, vocals R
  14. Yes. CS&N should have played before Page, Plant, Jones, Collins and Thompson (and Martinez). Then for MTV to telecast Duran Duran right after them was completely anti-climatic. Collins, if anyone, should have not joined them on stage. As mentioned previously, he was not rehearsed and already played in England earlier in the day (solo as well as with Stink (I mean Sting) and Branford Marsalis. R
  15. There was mention the other night in Atlanta by some others down front, that there would be a future DVD release of this tour. We'll wait and see if/when this is released. Perhaps the Toronto show was filmed for DVD??? Atlanta was not filmed (other than a single camera on side video screens) from back near/behind the soundboard. R
  16. Robert Plant had a recording career before Led Zeppelin (CBS records) --- see 66 to Timbuk Too CD compilation if you don't remember his earlier work (if you're a true fan of his music) and he has had one heck of a solo career after Led Zeppelin (since 1980)... He owes no one anything and can do as he pleases. I actually like all of his work and the fact that he wants to continue his journey into other forms of music. If he does a one-off or more with the 3 Js, it is all Extra (and his decision). R

  18. Earls Court were 5 dates in 1975: May 17,18,23,24,25 R
  19. Yes. Great show, indeed. There were two shows in Southampton This one, at the University, they performed on a small area with a cool rug on the wooden stage. The college crowd were very animated (according to the audio and pictures). A cool black and white picture is in The Complete Led Zeppelin Concert File. Jonesy has a unique multi-colored vest on. R

    Jimmy and JPJ

Yes. thanks for posting them. R
  21. I'm looking to go to this show (as it won't be too far a drive). Thanks, MissHD, I didn't see the original thread since I was on vacation when it was originally posted. R
  22. You're welcome, Juliet. I can definitely see why Robert has so much security now (with all of these looney people trying to get on the stage). Folks, just let him sing and enjoy the shows. Have a good one, R
  23. Bad Company will reform for one concert to be held on August 8th at the Seminole Hard Rock & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Paul Rodgers will be joined in August by original Bad Company guitarist Mick Ralphs and drummer Simon Kirke, who continued the group with other singers after Rodgers left in 1982. Lynn Sorenson from Rodgers' solo band will take the place of late bassist Boz Burrell, who died in 2006. This will be the group's first performance since a 1999 reunion tour. And although frontman Paul Rodgers told Billboard.com that "it'll be great to see the guys and play and go back down that road again just for one night," there's also a business component to the gig. "What I'm doing is protecting the legacy that we have built ... cementing the rights to the trademark Bad Company for touring," explains Rodgers, acknowledging that the group has learned of plans for at least one bogus Bad Company planning to hit the road. "I can't really go into that because it's kind of in the hands of our lawyers at the moment. But there are a lot of things that make it necessary to reinforce our rights here. He continues, "By doing this one-night stand with Bad Company, we will be cementing our right to the trademark 'Bad Company' for touring, and anyone who attempts to challenge us and tour misuing our trademark and mislead the fans will be liable to legal action." The show will be dedicated to the memory of Steve Weiss, the longtime attorney for Bad Company, Led Zeppelin and Swan Song Records, who passed away two weeks ago in Florida. It will also be recorded for a DVD that will accompany a Bad Company compilation expected out later this year. "I think it should be pure Bad Company and nothing else," Rodgers says of the show's repertoire. "We're gonna dig into the catalog a little bit. There are some great songs there I'd like to revisit, like 'Simple Man,' and of course the favorites, too," such as "Can't Get Enough," "Bad Company," "Feel Like Makin' Love" and "Rock'N'Roll Fantasy." Rodgers does not expect to do more with Bad Company after this show, however, owing to his solo career and to his involvement with Queen + Paul Rodgers, which is working on final mixes for a studio album, tentatively titled "The Cosmos Rocks" and due out this fall. The group will start a world tour in September in Europe, and it recently previewed a new track, "C-lebrity," on British TV. R
