zepps_apprentice
I'm trying to find the shots from the Shepperton Shoot in 1974. I've got these 3 captures with I'm pretty sure these are from Shepperton. Are there anymore I'm missing? These are all from Whole Lotta Love by the way. Also on a side note, what's with JPJ's leather jacket? Some nights he has it, some he doesn't. zepps_apprentice
Maybe not, these caps are from Black Dog and fit the pictures actually taken from '74. Perhaps we can tell by the dove that's on Plants ermm jeans.. Edited December 31, 2010 by zepps_apprentice

Sorry to bring back a 3 month old thread, but those Black Dog shots are genuine, Look carefully at Jonsey's hair in the 2nd black dog pic. zepps_apprentice
Sorry to bring back a 3 month old thread, but those Black Dog shots are genuine, Look carefully at Jonsey's hair in the 2nd black dog pic. You could be right. Watching a few clips again, the mirror in the back is the way to tell the difference between the legit nights and the Shepperton Shots. If the mirror in the back is tall, then it's from Shepperton? 1974?
ledzepfilm
Yes, thats another difference. Here are more: - The lights is at varying distances - No seating in the back - Mugshots - Jonsey's hair (he's wearing a wig) - Page's hair (Poofier) - Plant's hair (shorter) - Bonham is heavier - The metal thing in the middle is not there - The equipment is spread out more. - Plant is a couple pounds heavier
badgeholder
I don't get this whole "wig" thing, isn't it just a terrible haircut? Why would JPJ have to wear a wig?
ledzepfilm
Because he had his hair shorter then what he had at MSG.
ledzepfilm
Here is another great pic of Zep at Shepperton:
LedZep342
Why did they even reshoot the songs at shepperton?
SteveAJones
Why did they even reshoot the songs at shepperton? A primary reason was to cover gaps in the original concert footage.
ledzepfilm
Another was to get more interesting shots. (EXAMPLE: Look at WLL on the TSRTS outtakes, Clifton (the director) obviously didn't use the zoomed out picture, and used Shepperton shots to fill in the gap.) LedZep342
Ok, well, I guessed that it was to get better shots, cause why else would they, and that makes sense, to cover the gaps, in the original footage.
ledzepfilm
But none of this would of happened if the whole show was filmed.
LedZep342
Well, weren't all the shows fully filmed, I mean why wouldn't they be?
ledzepfilm
I don't know why, My guess is that they tried to film different segments of the show each night and mix it, but that didn't go to well.
ledzepfilm
And remember, this is not shot on video tape, this is shot on 16mm film, so that could be an effect on how there were parts missing in the footage.
LedZep342
Well, they might have not had enough film, so they planned out to film segments of each night.
ledzepfilm
That's exactly what I am saying. This MSG footage is a puzzle in it's own way.
LedZep342
Yea, it really is a puzzle, it's pretty mixed up!
ledzepfilm
Well, I am switching out the final pieces of it so they can fit!

To a "T". I also noticed that Shepperton has the taller mirrors than MSG. I remember seeing other shows from '73 where they had taller mirrors than the three MSG shows. pottedplant
Don't know why I posted a blank page. Anyway, what I was going to post is another difference is Robert's teeth. They have been fixed in the Shepperton footage.
ledzepfilm
Yep, his teeth are perfect and straight in the Shepperton footage.
