I didn't realize this but the AFC East is the oldest division in the NFL created in 1960 which at the time was the American Football League. The divisional alignment consisted of the Buffalo Bills, Boston Patriots, New York Titans and Houston Oilers The Miami Dolphins entered the AFL in 1966 as part of its Eastern division.

How is that possible when teams like Green Bay, Chicago and the Giants and Lions go back to the 1930s at least? Green Bay and Chicago is the oldest rivalry in the game. Baseball and hockey probably go back farther. I know they played in the late 1800's in baseball. And hockey, the original six goes back to the early 1900's at least. The Stanley Cup is considered the oldest trophy in North America

After further review the link is not correct. It would have to be the NFC Divisions go way back like you said.. I was just talking Football, baseball does go back quite a ways for sure.As well as hockey.

Great stuff Zepfan17. I doubt anyone here remembers the Rochester Jeffersons. They have a tough enough time realizing that this minor league city of Rochester NY won an NBA title which is fascinating enough.

Hey, man, I respect Rochester. They used to be the Orioles AAA city (which I know you know), AND spawned Wegmans PLUS the radi oshow Crap from the Past!

First time I've visited this thread, nice topic and discussion. Good question Walter about that photo and now you have me curious about it, I don't think it's Fenway for a few reasons, but your question has me wanting to do a little research. Perhaps another thread is in order so as not to derail this one.

Dag those Redskins played football for a long time. That had to be the oldest franchise and longest duration of a sports team. I wonder where they played In 1032. And I thought lacrosse was the oldest American sport.
