Besides a truckload of Sonic Youth concerts, I have been to several of Thurston's free-form events...some were solo, some with people like Nels Cline or Jim O'Rourke. Never got to see them, but TM is an amazing talent back in those days and still is today. Good match playing with JPJ. TM is a towering guy at around 6'6" tall.
