  1. And Quad ...and Who sell out...and My Generation
  2. Don't get me wrong Zeppelin is the best. But don't underestimate the Who...they kept on their high standaards for twice as long as zeppelin Even their reuninions were consistent. All in alltheir their a complete different brand. The Ox is the oposite of Jonesy ( although John is equaly fluent and fast on bass. Listen to heartbreaker on the Berkley sept 1971 recordings)...Mooney is a drum orchestra, whereas Bonzo is all about groove and weight. I love the Who dearly, I love Little Feat, the Talking heads, the Temptations, Beatles, ...
  3. The Lemon Song..."down on this killing Floor (and the subsequent barking guitar fx)
  4. After reading quite a few horror stories from those who ordered from amazon and received damaged goods, I cancelled mine. So I drove to media markt after work and bought the three pizza boxes. All three extremely well packaged (and by jove....heavy!!!!). They have French stickers and they were also a bit cheaper than Amazon UK (who changed their free shipping policy above £25) or Amazon Germany LZIII is the winner. It has been my favorite for decades and now I hear why. The companion disc is a treat and the only minor quible I can think of is that Studio Daze 'feel so bad-blues medley' is just a tad superior compared to 'keys to the highway'
  5. Jimmy was portrayed with a black Les Paul custom (complete with bigsby) several times during the Page/Plant era (1995-1998) was this a different guitar?
  6. This is one grainy, underexposed Little MF, but to this day It's one of my absolute faves. Only saw it once in a Dutch magazine 'muziek expres' hence my guess it was taken during the Rotterdam 75 warm up show. Enjoy.
  7. The Offenburg 1973 show is an exceptional one, no doubt about that. The tape in circulation is fantastic and the performance a no brainer. There are two things that kept me wondering First ; Offenburg is a beautiful but also a pretty small city (according to Wiki it has less than 60000 citizens). So why on earth would Zep want to include a town such as this include in their tour schedule ? The other issue is when you listen to the audience tape, there's this French speaking chap in the audience ("assie salope!", which means sit down b*tch). Offenburg is not too far removed from France, but to me that is rather awkward. Please fellow Zep heads –young and old- let your light shine on this enigma
  8. Check out "Think about it" from the seminal BBC sessions.... Always wondered why the early Zep never took that one on the road. Somehow it makes more sense in the 1969 playlist than For your love
  9. Yep, Hugh confirmed in his Proximity issue on the 'Holy Grails' that the Troubadour jam with Fairport was recorded on multi track. The whereabouts of the reels is unclear, so don't hold your breath !
  10. +1 for The Ocean as I mentioned before, "Houses" is my exception to the rule that Zep studio versions, top Zeps Live renditions...."Houses" has remarkable tracks such as No Quarter, The Song remains , Over the Hills, Dancing days and The Ocean. Only, they all (incl.Ocean) work better on stage.
  11. a really tough question. Allbum art and Zeppelin music ... I finally picked III, because my originla LP smelled so good and kept you busy while listening to the music. LZII was also pretty cool and that one was completely in line with music. Another one that was always entertaining was Physical Graffiti Kind of an interactive design with those different inserts. As a young kid I thought IV and Houses were quite intriguing, but nowadays the paedophile subtone of the last one puts me off. Anyway those seventies were languid and decadent. BTW ...The worst cover art prize goes to Ross Halfin (HTWWW, BBC sessions). These 'designs' are butt ugly.
