  1. At age 12, I had the opportunity to listen to Black Dog for the first time, in the car. I was due for a dental appointment and I was scared out of my wits (as I had to get a filling) and to cheer me up, my dad played IV! I started to get really serious about the band from the age of 16. Till then, I was a fan but a rather casual one, because of the entire gamut of Teenage Awkwardness and peer pressure to listen to what was deemed cool and current! Luckily, I came to my senses, eventually!

  3. Thanks! Yes, I know that it's been 46 years since Hendrix passed on. Can't believe it's been that long! Still can't get over it sometimes, in terms of the tremendous loss to music.
  4. Call me perverted, but this headline made me laugh! I'm sorry! At least, I'm admitting it! In the name of responsible journalism, could you please just change the word pussy to cat?
  5. 46 years ago today, a guitar maestro left us .................. Voodoo Child (Slight Return) by The Jimmy Hendrix Experience - Stockholm 1969 This lyric never fails to send chills down my spine: And if I don't meet you no more in this world Then I'll meet you in the next one And don't be late, don't be late After Rush, my next all time favourite trio is The Jimi Hendrix Experience
  6. I am really on the fence about this. The prices 'offered' by sellers in my area, are so astronomical! These prices have got to come down before I can even think of buying this! Or I have to make alternative arrangements and use Amazon.com / Amazon.co.uk. *Sigh! Anyway, this is all way too complicated. So for now, I am putting off my purchase. Besides, another band's live releases (that I discovered recently) have got my attention.
  7. There are three songs stuck in my head at the moment: Grandma Now, Grandma's a person who everyone likes,She bought you a train and a bright, shiny bike. But lately she hasn't been coming to dinner,And last time you saw her she looked so much thinner. Now, your mom and your dad said she moved to Peru,But the truth is she died and some day you will too.Lalala Lalalala Lalalala Lalalala La La La LaLalala Lalalala Lalalala Lalalala La La La La Another Thing You Don't Wanna Do There'll be times when you get olderWhen you'll want to sleep with peopleJust to make them like youBut don't.'Cause that's another thingThat you don't wanna doEverybody! That's another thingThat you don't wanna do. The Cow in the Meadow Oh, the cow in the meadow goes moo,Oh, the cow in the meadow goes moo. Then the farmer hits him on the head and grinds him up,And that's how we get hamburgers. Now, chickens!
  8. Yes, I did! And of course I remembered your gif of the Angry Video Game Nerd! It's hilarious and it sure fits the mood for the background music of Hong Kong 97!! Thanks for posting it again, by the way! In fact, the plan was to originally use your gif, but I couldn't find it anywhere and then, I noticed another Angry Video Game Nerd Head Bop (yes, I actually call it that ) in that episode for Hong Kong 97 and I couldn't resist!
  9. Congrats, guys!! Rush's Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson to receive key to the city BY SHAWN JEFFORDS, POLITICAL BUREAU CHIEF FIRST POSTED: WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2016 10:00 PM EDT TORONTO - Two of the most successful musicians in ‘YYZ’ history will bask in the ‘Limelight’ this weekend, as Mayor John Tory presents them with the key to the city. Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, founding members of rock band Rush, will receive the honour during a special ceremony on Saturday. The duo, who were both born and raised in Toronto, will also have a park in Willowdale named after them at the event honouring their achievements over 40 years in the music industry. “Rush’s sound, famous across the world, has helped shape Toronto’s own musical identity, which always has been and continues to be a unique hybrid of styles and influences,” Tory’s spokesman, Amanda Galbraith, said in a statement to the Toronto Sun Wednesday. “Very few bands can claim to have influenced a genre of music — but Rush can legitimately say they’ve done just that.” Lee and Lifeson formed the band in 1968 and St. Catharines-born drummer Neil Peart joined in 1974. Together the trio are behind hits like “Tom Sawyer,” “Limelight” and “YYZ,” and rank third behind the Beatles and The Rolling Stones for the most consecutive gold or platinum albums by a rock band. In 2013, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They have also been named Officers of the Order of Canada. “Their massive international fan base has helped to spotlight Toronto as a music capital for decades,” Galbraith said. “It’s amazing to know that all their success started right here in Toronto in a neighbourhood in Willowdale.” The park, which is part of the Willowdale Park footpath corridor, will be called Lee Lifeson Art Park and feature unique music-themed art installations. This is the third time Tory has presented the key to the city since taking office in 2014. The first recipient, in February 2016, was Drake. Former Toronto Blue Jays president Paul Beeston has also been recognized with the honour. “The mayor awards the key to inspiring individuals from diverse backgrounds who embody the spirit and potential of our city and have contributed significantly to civic life,” Galbraith said.
