  1. Pretty much spot on for me... I'd probably go With Tom Sawyer, Red Barachetta, YYZ for Rush. But three of these instantly popped in my head. I'd add Boston's debut More Than a Feeling, Peace Of Mind, Foreplay / Longtime Aerosmith - Rocks Back in The Saddle Last Child Rats In The Cellar.
  2. I am pretty much a pro life person. I don't even kill insects if I can avoid it. I eat meat so I guess I am a bit of a hypocrite.. But F**** it, I have no compassion for these animals... child abductors, serial killers... Give them the Death penalty.... get em off the planet. Rapists, Pedophiles if they can't be treated ... lock em up and throw away the key. tough love... justice. whatever you want to call it.
  3. agreed. I messed up on Alice Cooper. I have some old old Circus / Raves magazines that I thought were from 74, but they were from 73. Alice is all over them.. I respectfully don't agree Elton John took 1974 off though. He toured, started his own record label, recorded Whatever Gets you through the Night, Bad Blood, the album Caribou, and toured.. I completely forgot about Elton..
  4. I can live with that.. Both bands were at their commercial peak in 1974. Black Sabbath and Alice Cooper as well I know Sabbath (according to Tony Iommi) tried to pull out of Cal Jam because of all the back and forth between ELP and Purple over who was going to headline. Again, I should have said one of the biggest.. Cheers.
  5. Good points. But I trust your opinion as much as Bono's and Little Steven's. I wouldn't want a free for all either. But there is a bias in how it's happening now that has to be corrected if you ask me.. Truly great artists are being ignored or getting in the year after a key member dies.because some hips critics don't like them. For a brilliant, ground breaking composer like Frank Zappa to get in the year after he dies and years after he is eligible is very wrong. i do thik this year's nominees are a step in the right direction and hopefully a sign of things to come.
  6. I should have said one of the biggest bands in the world to avoid this ... but anyway here goes .. 1) They were voted best band in several polls...Circus magazine for one also Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer winning several best Drummer and Keyboardist polls 2) They headlined the 1st California Jam over Black Sabbath and Deep Purple which was nationally televised for millions and with over 200,000 in attendence. 3) Brain Salad Surgery and Welcome Back My Friends were huge selling albums.. 4) I was alive in 1974 and am going by memory... but they were it. from wikipedia By April 1974, ELP were on top of the bill during the California Jam Festival, pushing co-stars Deep Purple to second billing. ELP's California Jam performance was broadcast nationwide in the United States, and attended by over 200,000 paying fans.[22] By the end of 1974, ELP were just about tied with Led Zeppelin as the highest grossing live band in the world. Did you agree with any other points in my post? The main point was that it stinks that critics and a panel of "experts" are deciding who gets in and not the public.. not that ELP was the biggest (or one of the biggest bands) in the world in 1974... Zeppelin were inactive in 74 and came roaring back in 1975.
  7. Not sure if they were first but, Yes performed In The Round years before Def Leppard did.
  8. My deepest sympathies to you and your family. May your Father Rest in Peace.
  9. I agree with everything you said except the last part. There's no shame involved. I wouldn't feel right saying someone that has been inducted doesn't deserve to be in. I definately don't like the way certain Genre's and major bands don't get in because some nerdy critic doesn't like or get them. ELP for example were HUGE. They were the biggest band in the world in 1974 (...Led Zeppelin took the year off) and they'll never get in because the CRITICS hated them. Change the voting method, have an internet poll for all eligible artists. Let the public vote ... across the board ... Call it the Music Hall Of Fame, have a Jazz section, Funk, Disco, Blues, Country, Prog, Hip Hop, Metal .... right down the line. Follow the same 25 year after the first album rule and be done with it.. WON"T HAPPEN but that would work...
  10. Kraftwerk, Rush and Deep Purple are in my list of WTF are they not in? along with KISS YES The Moody Blues etc... I'm pleasantly surprised. They've established that they're going to let rap bands in.. I'm ok with it.
  11. I've got to say I think that's a great list. Best and most varied list in years..
  12. Mommie Dearest ? .... might as well stay on the same theme "Just remember. I'll only tell you one time. Don't f*ck me Tony... Don't you ever try to f*ck me."
  13. no clue... "I really like your car Mrs Larusso."
  14. I loved the Rory Gallagher question.. Probably my favorite question because comes out of left field. To give an excellent, and overlooked musician some worldwide exposure and praise from one of his more recognized peers is a very good thing .. I thought Jimmy's response was very thoughtful. This press conference does further point out how different their personalities really are. Robert's answers are usually pretty long and have some obscure references. John Paul's answers are usually very short, quirky one liners. Some are classic, some are odd. You can see Page sit there, slowly grow impatient and just cut right to the chase.. "What did You all think of the concert" They didn't seem uncomfortable together (Robert and JPJ) . They're just very different people. An excellent press conference.
  15. Corgan is a genius. From what I've heard so far, his new album is incredible. I don't agree with him at all on this one though. Soundgarden is taking their time and doing it right. He was responding to something Cornell said about SP a couple of years ago.
  16. I agee on both points. The 1968 original is in my top 10 all time favorite films.. nothing in the series will ever top the original.. I thought Rise was excellent too. I am really looking forward to next chapter. Everything about the Tim Burton version was done very well... The Apes makeup, The special effects, the caliber of actors ... all great... Everything worked except the storyline.. which sucked real bad. Same with Lost In Space.. evrything was there, but the weak script killed what could have been a great movie franchise.
  17. Tony Iommi Jimmy Page Ritchie Blackmore John Paul Jones - Black Dog, Heartbreaker, The Ocean, Royal Orleans, Zooma etc... Alex Lifeson - good call RH. I've also been thinking Alex should be on here.
  18. ? I know what Blabbermouth is about... Would you rather I didn't pass it on? It says right in the headline A RUMOR.
  19. from Blabbermouth.net... LED ZEPPELIN's 2007 Reunion Concert Rumored For DVD Release - Sep. 6, 2012 According to a posting (since removed) on the web site of Belgian classic rock radio station RTBF, LED ZEPPELIN's reunion for the Ahmet Ertegun tribute concert at London's O2 Arena in December 2007 will finally be released on DVD and CD in November. Citing sources at Warner Music, the site reported that the set will consist of a double DVD accompanied by two CDs. An estimated nine million people applied for the 18,000 tickets to the O2 Arena show, which featured Jason Bonham taking his late father's place behind the drum kit. In its review of the concert, NME.com wrote that LED ZEPPELIN singer Robert Plant spoke little during the show, but when he did, it was mostly to pay tribute to Ertegun, who he said after first encore "Whole Lotta Love", "ran the best label in the world" in Atlantic Records. Speaking to the Los Angeles radio station KLOS in December 2010, Jason stated about the prospect of the concert being released on DVD, "Nothing is official, as yet. I only know that because Robert had said that he'd watched it. I really do hope that it eventually will see the light of day. It's just nice to know that Robert had seen it, so I knew something, but it was nice that he rang up and said, 'Wow, it sounded great.' Fingers crossed, everybody… fingers crossed." In an interview with U.K.'s Telegraph.co.uk, Plant was asked about ZEPPELIN's 2007 reunion concert. "I really had a wonderful time," said Plant. "It was the best LED ZEPPELIN gig since 1975." When asked if he would do it again, Plant replied, "I don't think so. You've got to have a lot in common with the people you're working with at this time in your life. Everything has to move on and forward, in all relationships. "I know that bands that haven't put out a record for 10 years are playing to 20,000 people a night. But that's not the achievement. The achievement is to knock yourself out. It's a very selfish thing. The tail must never wag the dog." A few months back, radio personality and "That Metal Show" co-host Eddie Trunk tweeted, "Heard from a very reliable source backstage at AEROSMITH show that there will be some sort of LED ZEPPELIN activity around Christmas."
  20. Exactly.. I respect Jimmy Carter a great deal. He's truly a great Humanitarian. I remember reading that he was a fan of Led Zeppelin and The Allman Brothers. But he wasn't a very strong President.
  21. Sorry. How I worded my post didn't come across right.. By "not Queen numbers" I meant numbers as far as album sales and tickets. They should be playing Queen songs. I completely agree with your reply
  22. I'm not a guitarist, but when I get a blister, I pop it with a needle and douse it with rubbing alcohol. It stings, but it seems to work and dry it out. My wife is diabetic and has to poke her fingers many times a day to check her blood sugar, She says the fingers on that hand are naturally calloused from the cutting and healing.
  23. Thank you Z-o-S-o for clarifying.. re read my post. I realized I didn't answer your last and I agree most important question. I did answer after.
