  1. I just learned I need a new water heater. There goes my end-of-the-summer vacation. Sigh....
  2. Great photos. Thank you for sharing them.
  3. Bacon sandwich, a pear and a cup of coffee with evaporated milk in place of Coffee Mate.
  4. Do you remember the episode where he went space walking without a tether? What I didn't grasp back then was that Roger Ramjet was a spoof on the heroic astronaut stories. Just like Underdog was a spoof on Superman.
  5. I'm sorry for your loss and sorry your grandmother suffered so much.
  6. Actually, President Obama did address Major General Greene's death though not fast enough for some people. http://www.usatoday.com/story/theoval/2014/08/07/obama-harold-green-afghanistan-general/13727349/ http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/checkpoint/wp/2014/08/06/obamas-silence-on-death-of-maj-gen-harold-greene-comes-under-fire/
  7. I'm drinking a glass of homemade sangria and eating popcorn.
  8. This is just terrible. It's rare for such a high ranking military officer to be killed in a war zone. This maybe the first time it's happened since World War II.
  9. I haven't seen the DVD but is the second dark-haired woman South Asian in appearance? If so, it could be Najma Akhtar, a British Asian singer Plant worked with and dated during the mid-1990s.
  10. Wasn't there some drama years ago over who owned the copyright to Hendrix' works?
  11. I don't blame him. It's very arrogant for them to act as if the rules don't apply to them; they're not that special. Too many concert goers act as if the price of their ticket entitles them to be inconsiderate of the artists and other concert goers.
  12. I remember a similar slogan from that era: "Librarians do it quietly".
  13. Thanks for the heads up. She'll be missed here.
  14. Not today. I'm not a fan of Spam, but it makes a good pate. You just add cream cheese, diced green onions, onion powder, garlic powder, dill and liquid smoke to the Spam in a bowl. Blend the ingredients well, then shape it into a ball and place in the fridge to chill. Once it's set you roll it in chopped walnuts then serve with vegetable crudites and fancy crackers. This also makes a good spread for toasted bagels and a good tea sandwich filling. I use rye cocktail bread and skip the chopped walnuts, when I make tea sandwiches with this pate.
  15. The above photos look familiar. Is this the interview where he talks about his (then) new son-in-law Charlie Jones? IIRC, it was an American talk show and the host was an attractive African-American woman who teased Plant about letting his daughter marry a musician.
  16. Grilled cheese sandwich and a mocktail of V-8 juice, seltzer water and a dash of tabasco sauce.
  17. One of my favorite photos of the Zeppelin era Robert Plant.
  18. I watched it when it first aired. I remember thinking Deep Purple's lead singer looked different somehow. I didn't realize it wasn't Ian Gillan until Jon Lord introduced David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes.
  19. It's catchy and very simple; that's why it's so easy to sing along to it. It's a great audience participation number.
  20. My opinion of them as well. Still, I gotta admit that Rock and Roll All Night kicks ass. One of the great classic rock anthems.
  21. I've often wondered if Ted Nugent cultivates his blowhard jerk persona as part of his act.
  22. Interesting cake. I don't get the Stonehenge references.
  23. Was Page implying that Rodgers was an early-to-bed, no partying type of dude with his "going on the road with his grandmother" comment?
  24. I love both bands but The Who have one advantage over Zeppelin that matters to me: most of their songs are singable. Trying humming along to a Zep song. I suppose you could hum the guitar riffs from Kashmir or Whole Lotta Love but, as great as they are, these aren't songs you can sing along to.
