  1. I've never bought into the binary thing when it comes to entertainers. I like both singers. IMO, they have very different voices so the David Cover-Version cracks never made much sense. I suspect Coverdale has had to work harder than Plant in order to sustain his career. He probably has made more artistic compromises along the way. Plant was THE VOICE OF LED ZEPPELIN. He was in one of the most successful bands of all time and considered one of the best rock singers of his era. By the time Led Zeppelin folded, he had achieved iconic status. Coverdale, in contrast, was Deep Purple's third lead singer. He was considered a fine singer, but not the one most fans associate with Deep Purple. That honor goes to Ian Gillan.
  2. I really like this one; young bluegrass babe and old rock lion. An odd pairing but they made a good team. Also, that peachy color really flatters Ms. Krause, imo. Whomever picked out their outfits for this shooting knew what he/she was doing.
  3. She may like you as a person but doesn't think the two of you can go the distance as a couple.
  4. Page was enjoying the show but Ross Halfin doesn't look too impressed. Btw, was this photo taken in Thailand?

    Robert's Hair

Were he and JPJ in a recording studio in this photo?
  6. The bottom photo is obviously pre-Led Zeppelin given how young Page looks. What most intrigues me is the angle. The photographer is looking up at him. Page must have been standing on a stage while the photographer was sitting or kneeling in the audience.
  7. A slice of pound cake with a chocolate swirl inside and chocolate glaze on top. Someone brought it to our church picnic today. It's good so I think it was homemade.
  8. Are you referring to Jackie DeShannon? She is an American singer and songwriter who Page dated during his session musician days. They collaborated on some songs for Marianne Faithful during this time. Faithful mentions DeShannon and her relationship with Page in her autobiography. There is a snapshot of DeShannon and Page at a nightclub floating about the internet.
  9. Great photo. Who took it? Also, is it just me or is Page deliberately recalling an Aleister Crowley photo with this pose?
  10. I think this photo may have been taken when the band was performing Kashmir. IIRC, he would make this gesture while singing the "As my eyes fill with sand" line.
  11. What is he holding? An oar?
  12. Could it be Krissy Wood?
  13. Speaking of Strider...when did he go to that big kennel in the sky?
  14. He's fiddling with his hair. Was he bored? Nervous? This was as long as JPJ ever wore his hair during the Zep era. It's nice hair too; thick and glossy. Led Zeppelin was the original hair band with three of the four members having long, lush locks.
  15. Another nice photo of Jimmy Page but then, he is a photogenic guy. For me, the real treat was the guy sitting next to him. It took me a moment to realize that it was John Paul Jones. This is one of the more revealing photos of JPJ from that era that I've seen.
  16. Sunny, in the mid 80's and very humid. It's a bit cooler than usual for this area in August.
  17. Good article. I wonder if Page still has his autographed Jerry Lee Lewis albums?
  18. Pure speculation on my part because I wasn't there and don't know any of the players: Mixing downers with alcohol is dangerous and at least two members of the band (Page and Bonham) were heavy drinkers. Badgely may have feared that if either man took his qualuudes along with all the booze they were drinking, they could accidentally kill themselves. That would have been very bad for him from both a professional and legal standpoint.
  19. My user name is the title of a nonsense pop song from the disco era. I didn't put much thought into it other that it might tip off other posters that I was around during the 70's.
  20. Has anyone ever asked him about it during an interview?
  21. Something I hadn't noticed until this photo: Page held his guitar higher during the O2 concert than he did during Zeppelin. During Zeppelin it was almost at crotch level. At the O2 concert the guitar's "waist" was at his waist.

    Robert's Hair

LOL. This is what I call "the stripper hair toss". Robert knew how to work his hair.
  23. I've read that he subsisted on banana daquiris and ratatouille during the 1977 tour.
  24. Second row, fourth from the left. I've never seen this photo before. I'm guessing it's from Plant's pre-Zep days.
  25. Steve, am I correct in assuming that you added the small print comments about mandible transplants, dry ice, etc.?
