  1. Hi, Pagefan! We tend to go to the restaurants that are within walking distance from the hotel, some favorites are Galatoire's (very fun and lively, coat required for the gents - which you can borrow off the rack if you forget , and waiters that you ask for by name), Restaurant August (a John Besh restaurant), Restaurant R'evolution (we've only been able to eat in the bar area, but it is a great atmosphere with full food service), Brennan's (newly reopened after a major - and beautiful - renovation, we love their brunch), Mr. Ed's Oyster House (super yummy charbroiled oysters and gumbo) and Cafe Maspero (great sandwiches and French onion soup). We go to New Orleans often to see the plays (and Jazz Fest), but eating in New Orleans is a major part of the experience. I know there are a ton of great restaurants that we haven't even tried, I'm trying to be better about branching out, but it's hard when you have favorites! I have not visited the plantation homes (near NOLA) but have heard from others who have, and I would love to see them. There is also a WWII Museum that we would love to visit that I understand is really nice. Have you made your trip to NOLA? I'm always open to tips from others who are from there or travel there.
  2. Yes, yes! So many treasures in that special, they did a great job!
  3. You are most welcome, Kiwi, and thank you for posting the YouTube video. I didn't know it was out there, and I would love to watch it again! How did you like that the Mother Abbess said that when she heard her (Mother Abbess in movie) sing, she thought the milk gets sour. What!! That's one of my favorites!!
  4. Sunshine, a rare sight these days. And a lovely breakfast at Brennan's to round out a perfect weekend in New Orleans.
  5. Happy birthday, redrum! Hope you are having a fantastic movie night!!
  6. Ninety straight minutes of smiles and 'awww's! A very heartwarming story about the complex society of the macaque monkeys who live amidst the beautiful ancient ruins of Polonnaruwa in Sri Lanka. This love story includes heroes/heroines, villains, battles, and plenty of monkey shenanigans.
  7. Weekend ended up being busy, did not get to watch Imitation Game, but it's next on the list. Unbroken is a wonderful story about a remarkable man. To imagine all that Louis Zamperini endured sure makes my every-day struggles so insignificant.
  8. Watching Unbroken tonight. If it rains all weekend, may also catch The Imitation Game.
  9. Sounds like a great day! I own and love both of those movies. True confession: when Paul Walker passed away (R.I.P.), I heard everyone talking about the star of the Fast and Furious movies, but not having seen any of them, I assumed I didn't know the actor. My kids said, mom, you know him, he's the same actor from Eight Below. I was devastated and joined the grieving parties, feeling ashamed that I only knew him from that one movie. He is such a sweetheart in Eight Below.
  10. Watching now, had to watch Dancing with the Stars first.
  11. Yes, that's it, and I agree it is a gem! I didn't purchase it until I saw the movie, which I believe was in 1973. You can tell my booklet has been loved a lot.
  12. Happy Easter! The first album I owned was Jesus Christ Superstar, it came with a booklet with lyrics to all the songs. I listened to it non-stop for a very long time, still have it.
  13. Yes, to see it all!! For example, for all the guys who love the 70's ladies dancing in the kitchen, they also dance in the guy's bedroom. Cool idea, thanks for posting, Sam!
  14. ^^. Good to see you out and about, Strider! Looks like you found a treasure trove!
  15. Hi Strider! Yes, the music was wonderful...some songs were fun, foot stomping, and some were soft and very beautiful. Very talented musicians.
  16. Morning walk along the foggy, mighty Mississippi River, and then a lovely brunch at the newly renovated Brennan's restaurant in New Orleans. Two thumbs up!
  17. ^^ Happy birthday to you, Plantpothead! Strider, happy to hear you are out of the hospital and on to full recovery!
  18. You will not be disappointed! Very interesting behind the scenes stories and some very sentimental moments. I thought it was well done, and Julie Andrews is such a gem! How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?
