http://www.nascar.com/2010/news/headlines/cup/03/09/cedwards.probation.bkeselowski/index.html What a joke! I know they want to drivers to police themselves, but who is looking out for the fans in the stands on the issue? Probation for three races? Whatever..... Even Carl isn't stupid enough to do anything to Brad over the next 3 races. Don't confuse this with me liking #12, I am glad the other drivers are using "behavior modification" techniques with him - just not putting fan's lives at stake while doing it. Hotplant, I also thought Montoya had a chance and if he had gotten to Kurt's bumper you'd seen some fireworks then. Those two probably would have wrecked each other since they were running about the same line. That would have been a great rivalry in the making! Neither one would back down from the other. Oh well. Week off to get ready for March Madness and take in a Spring Training game - and see the F1 season begin somewhere on the opposite side of the globe!

First of all, JPM would have caught Kurt Busch but passing him would have been a different story with just a couple of laps to go. But, we will never know now - will we? As far as Carl Edwards goes, he should be sat down for a race. To wreck someone going 190 miles an hour in front of 80,000 - puts every one's safety at serious risk. I really think ole Carl needs to be tested for steroids - he seems like he has roid rage at times. Look at his history - almost takes Junior's arm off, by running his car into him post-race at Michigan (Busch race). Throws a mock punch at his teammate (Kenseth) post race at Martinsville while Kenseth is being interviewed. He tried to push Harvick around in the garage at Charlotte last fall. The list keeps going. "Cousin" Carl is what Smoke says - the Eddie Haskell of NASCAR. It's getting to the point where I will not attend a race and sit that close to the track anymore - due to airborne cars. They must set a precedent. I know NASCAR was loosening the grip they have on the drivers, but this type of behavior cannot be tolerated at all. Save retaliation for Bristol or Martinsville - not the fastest track on the circuit. I am looking forward to checking out some of the F1 racing this weekend. I would love to see Michael win on his return to the sport.

I do give them full respect, doesn't mean I have to like it though..... It is beginning to be like Earnhardt back in the old days - you expect them to get up front and when other drivers see the 48 coming, they drive differently, strategize differenly, etc. He is in everybody's head, including his teammate. Who is this Canadian you are speaking of, in F1? J.V.?

It is not really about hating on Jimmie Johnson and, yes, I do understand that others need to pick up their performance to beat him. I just can't root for Cheat Knaus! Gordon definitely got screwed by his crew chief on that call and then had to put on his best face to support that call. I mean, if you have dominated all day long, how can you just put on 2 when you will come out in the top 5 or 6 taking 4 with 30 to go and a double file restart????? Footsteps, glad to hear about your great trip to Vegas. The race seemed racier then Fontana did. No way can I support another Hendrick title, no matter who it is. I have been to most of the tracks on the east coast, but never out west. We were thinking about taking a trip to Sonoma for the June race. Love road course racing and my in-laws went last year and said it is a fantastic facility. What's your pick for Atlanta? I am going to go with my boy, Harvick. He had a dominant car last fall there and they seem to have their act together so far this year. Probably will be Johnson though! So, Cletus, what is your take on F1 this year? Will Ferrari return to dominance? What is the aspect of that type of racing that makes you so passionate? Do you go to the Canandian Grand Prix?
  7. I had completely forgotten that Slash played with them as well. I will have to pull that tape out and watch the set again. If I remember correctly their set was on the same stage as Green Day, just after the legendary mud fight between the band and the crowd. I think one member of Green Day had his tooth broken by a security guard trying to restore order?! This is bringing back too many memories, I have to pull those tapes out and watch it again. Thanks Steve for your mind-jogging post! Paul Rodgers is always great to see live, I wish I had caught he and Jimmy together....

Jimmie Johnson - is anyone sick of him winning YET?!? Also, Footsteps of Dawn, how was your Vegas trip?
  9. I saw Paul on that tour in a small club here in the U.S. and thought I was crazy not noticing Jason on drums. I did catch their set at Woodstock that year and it was very good. If I remember correctly, wasn't Neil Schon (sp?) of Journey on guitar for that show as well?
  10. Just re-watched my dvr recording of their two songs and boy, were they awesome or what? After watching the Austin City Limits show that was broadcast on PBS, you can really see how the band has jelled so much during those 4-5 months. Great job Vultures, now get down to Florida immediately!!
  11. Saw him back in '91 and he was great. Maybe it is time to check him out again... At least I know he will come down to Florida!
  12. Nice article Sam and thank you, Steve, for sharing that very cool video clip.

So, you're a Harvick fan also, Hot Plant? He did almost have it, just lost the nose of the car and caught the wall. Two weeks in a row with basically the best car out there and no wins to show for it. It will be interesting to see how the next 4 races go for them. We was the best car at Atlanta last fall, but not good enough on the short run to beat Kahne. He is always great at Bristol and solid at Martinsville. So Vegas this week should be similar to California. They just need to put a new side on that car and get it to Sin City. My preliminary pick for this weekend will be Jeff Burton, he is always good at Vegas and was very strong last week also. I am VERY sick of JJ. His luck has to run out sometime....and I don't want to be near him when it happens. The racing gods have a way of evening things out and he is tipped waaaay to far on the luck side. Footsteps of Dawn, keep us updated on your trip this weekend. Thanks Conneyfogle for the video clip - that was about the only good part of that Busch race.
  14. Hope he comes around here for that! What are the dates announced already?
  15. Maybe they should be called "The Knew Yardbirds"!
  16. Have not had the chance to see them yet - they haven't come down to FL to date. We were thinking about traveling up to the ATL to see them, but it was race weekend at Daytona and that is like Christmas to us! I saw your pictures that you had posted earlier and your personal account of the evening. Truly envious of y'all. Good for you that you were up front with everyone rockin' hard behind you. Hope you didn't get pushed around much!!
  17. Great JPJ solo, Deborah J. Thanks for sharing so much from your show!!

Nice takes Footsteps. I do agree with you that the racing is far different and there is much more strategy winning at Fontana than Daytona. It still is right with Pocono as my least favorite tracks they visit. One of the great things about a long racing season is so much diversity among the tracks. Even the 1.5 mile venues are somewhat different from each other. So you're going to Vegas? That would be a great trip. The track appears to be much racier since they increased the banking. Just waiting for the racing surface to age a little bit more. Plus, it is always interesting when they only visit a track once a year. Have you ever visited any of the historic southeast tracks? Living in San Diego must be awesome!

Too bad, the Cup series is in California this weekend, what a letdown after great racing last week. Snoozeville at this track, except for the restarts and they don't even get close to filling it up for either race! Oh yeah, everyone is shopping or underneath smoking - that's what they always say when the stands are half empty. Take a race back to Rockingham!!! Pick for this weekend - Jimmie Johnson. After last week's poor finish, you know Cheat Knaus will have the car right for ole JJ. BTW, did everyone see Kenseth's team already fired their crew chief and brought back Todd Parrot - if they win you'd better get the umbrellas out cause he'll (Parrot that is) be crying like a baby. He is not a stable man!
