  1. Great clip! They still got it But, for how long will they be able to keep it together?
  2. Y.C. should be glad he will not be playing our division this season - the NFC East would deny any success for them and might go ahead and bust T.O.'s jaw, just for shits and giggles.
  3. Thanks for the recommendation! That is one dics I would definitely want the highest upgrade with.
  4. Careful now Jimmie Ray, those Pearl Jam fans might jump your ass! Metallica probably would fit that best, since they are still relevant and kicking ass, like you said!
  5. I would guess to summarize this whole thing, everything is directly or indirectly influenced by everything before it. I knew the link with Pearl Jam and Neil Young - they even backed him on a disc he released back in the 90's. So, who is the "most recent full on rock band"? I guess that was the thread topic.
  6. I agree with the tag. I mean many of the bands didn't even carry the same type of sound really. I had thought he said that he was influenced by them. I do remember him talking about SLTS being kinda a rip off of them. Interesting, thanks danelectro.
  7. That's interesting, could give more information as to who made that statement? As was said earlier, the Pixies were Cobain's greatest influence. I have never heard Neil Young being said as an inspiration for "grunge" bands.
  8. Very nice. Good to see them in a studio setting, rockin' out!!
  9. In The Flesh? - Pink Floyd
  10. Actually she lives near Syracuse, so maybe she could take care of that - especially if he "accidentally" takes too many pills again! Too funny! Wait until summer camp starts, you are going to be unstopable with excitement - he does create an aura of anticipation. Are you gonna get your popcorn ready?
  11. Cool with me. I used to live in upstate and have been a Yanks fan for 30+ years. Been to the Bronx a number of times. Not to jack the thread but how disgusted are you of A-Rod? From day one I knew he was nothing but a loser and he hasn't proven me wrong yet. His stats mean nothing when he doesn't have anything to show for it, in a team sense. So are you a Giants fan then?
  12. Agree also, they were pretty worn out when Jimmy came on the road with them. Luckily, for them, they had a lion wailing on guitar to keep them going. Peace.
  13. When should we transfer this to a NFL 09 thread, since all we are talking about is the prospect of success next season? Yukon, I do admire your enthusiasm - I'll be there for you come Nov./Dec. when the Bills are on the outside looking in at the playoff picture and the city is blowing up. Jimmy Ray, yes I get your spoof. Just used to posts with anger and vengence in this forum, so I wasn't sure what direction you were coming from. I have seen that 70 yard sprint, only to have a 2 yard run a number of times already, followed by a rolling of the eyes and a rant on the sidelines. Again, he is not worth the baggage he brings.
  14. Put a little math to it - TO (no rings) + Buffalo (no rings) = NO RINGS!!
  15. I agree totally. The Houston '77 show sounds sooo thin, but the audience LA shows have a much fuller sound than any of the soundboards. I like to soundboards mainly because you can hear the banter between bandmates that you can't hear in audience recordings, especially during the acoustic sets. I can't imagine how bad the soundboard version of 1st LA show would sound next to Millard's masterpiece.
  16. You are right on with me with your assessment. You should really check out AIC if and when they come around you - you won't be disappointed. Cantrell is one of most underrated guitarists/song writers/singers in the past 20 years. I saw them open for Velvet Revolver a year and a half ago and they were fantastic. I saw them twice with Layne - opening for Van Halen in '92 and then opening for Kiss at Tiger Stadium in '96. They truely are a great band. I hate to put any of those bands as "grunge" because they were just rock 'n roll bands with a little different style. Enjoyed the discussion "Swede". Peace.
  17. Well, I guess the next time I need all of the answers to the world, I'll get with you. Thanks for your OPINION.
  18. I agree, not an arguement, just a discussion pertaining to the title of the thread. I personally like Alice In Chains over all of the other bands from the era. Too bad they weren't able to produce more music in the time they had with Layne. The new singer is awesome live though!
  19. Yes Steve, I have read the same type of attitude towards Jimmy's time with the band also. Seems like he has never really received positive accalades from that time period. I definitely associate it with him using the songs that were being created by the band, with Zeppelin. I'm sure using the name The New Yardbirds didn't help either when starting Zep, along with playing "For Your Love" early on during tours. Like you said respect is deserved all the way around! They have an amazing lineage of guitarists and should be remembered for such.
  20. Seriously?! Don't know how Neil Young and Nirvana relate. Their unplugged was mostly all of their own songs, some just arranged differently. To each his own.....
  21. Never have experienced their show, so I can't offer my opinion on that. I respect your opinion about them live. But, their music never seems to change much. Which isn't bad if that is your thing. I don't think Nirvana was big only because they were the 1st "grunge" band, it was because they could be so diverse. Super heavy riffs, at times, great catchy chorus' and then would go acoustic and add a whole different dimension to the song/record they were released on. I think their diversity is what separates Nirvana from Pearl Jam and elevates them in a historical sense. Again, I totally respect your take on the live aspect when it comes to Pearl Jam. Guns... saved us from the "hair metal" sound first and Cobain took it to next level, again IMO.
