  1. Love everything he did up through Let's Dance (an underrated album, for sure). Bowie is the best.
  2. I saw the Who both nights they played the Oakland Coliseum in 89. What stands out the most to me, looking back, was John Entwistle's bass solo and Roger Daltry doing "Hey Joe" for the encore on (I think) the second night.
  3. What a tough question. The one that stands out the most to me is seeing Jane's Addiction in SF in December 1990. I had just turned 20, and they were my favorite band at that time. The Pixies and Primus opened. This was almost unheard of back then - the 3 hottest bands of what used to be called "college radio" all playing the same night - lots of people were PUMPED for this. And by lots I mean the small segment of "too cool for school" kids who were into all that lol. Charles Thompson (Black Francis) wore a tuxedo to commemorate the occasion. I don't think I've ever seen anyone sweat so much in my life. I was just in awe the whole night - right up front looking up at the band. I def had them on a pedestal, and they were larger than life in my eyes. Looking back, and reviewing video concert footage from the show many years later, it was a fantastic night. I think musically Primus was the actual best of the three on that night. They (Primus) just were insanely good and clearly wanted to hold their own with bands they had a ton of respect for. Plus, it was "their" town so I suspect there was some pride involved as well. Les was exuding this weird charisma that I've never seen him do since. He was in the zone that night. Not to take anything away from the Pixies and especially Jane's - it was everything I had hoped for seeing them onstage for the first time. Anyway, it left quite an impact on me haha. I think best show I saw musically was probably Jimmy Page in 88 in Oakland. He was just "on" that night, dude is magic.
  4. Tom's great. When I first discovered him, I listened to him constantly and got all his albums right quick. Heart of Saturday Night and The Black Rider are the 2 albums I keep returning to year after year.
  5. In no particular order, these are probably the 10 I visit the most year in and year out: Heart of Saturday Night - Tom Waits Lick My Decals Off, Baby - Captain Beefheart Survival - Bob Marley Your Future, Our Clutter - The Fall Teenager of the Year - Frank Black Swing Easy - Frank Sinatra McCartney - first album Red Rose Speedway (2018 double disc version) - Paul McCartney Mirror Man Sessions - Captain Beefheart (only because I can't imagine my life without these versions of "Kandy Korn" and "Moody Liz") Village Green Preservation Society - The Kinks
  6. I love Colors, totally agree. I have all of his albums, he's crazy talented.
  7. The sax is so good on this, I had to google who it was - Babe Russin laying it down.
  8. Oh damn, that sounds good. Def better than my pre-workout meal of a chocolate protein shake, a banana and maple brown sugar oatmeal (even though I love all that too).
  9. That sounds brutal. The things we take for granted ... especially getting good sleep. Glad to hear it's doing better.
  10. Yeah, Gaskin's back (and Ahmed who is second best RB for them) so that's a huge plus. Their turnaround came when Xavien Howard came back from being injured. That defense has stepped up in a huge way. I would say the incredible defense is 75% of their success with the rest being smart, conservative offensive plays that focus on Tua's strengths and of course the run. It's been fun to watch. 🙂 But after the Jets, we have the Saints, Titans and Pats so not getting too excited haha.
  11. Haha, shocker. Just read about that. Which is good because Waddle just got added to the list.
  12. Sounds like my mom lol. Glad to hear she's doing better. Also - donuts make life just a little bit better for everyone lol. They were always my favorite as a kid, and I still have them a couple times a month. Lemon-filled and chocolate cake for the win.
  13. forgot to add the goofy emoji to denote kidding/sarcasm, but I think you get it lol
  14. Not a scholar of all things Doobie, but yeah I've heard that before. I don't have any of their records or anything, I just like good songs. 🙂
  15. "What a Fool Believes" is one of the best songs of all time.
  16. Now that you mention it, if Christian Bale wasn't available, Tom would have been fantastic in American Psycho.
  17. This Sunday's Jets-Dolphins game will be interesting and not as in the bag as everyone thinks, unfortunately. A lot of key RBs are out due to covid so my guess is they will lean on the defense to win the game (as usual) and put as much pressure as possible on the Jets' rookie QB. From what I understand, he's been really stepping up the past couple games so I think this will be a good one to watch (for Dolphins/Jets fans anyway lol). The Jets have nothing to lose which is actually what makes me the most nervous about this one.
  18. Very cool! Lucky you. Discovering a band you love is the best feeling, especially in the early days where you're discovering stuff for the first time. There is a ton of great info on this forum, regarding info on the band, live shows, etc. Very helpful forum members too.
  19. "It's beautiful, man!" - Tom Cruise, also in Taps
  20. “You go to the movies, you read books. A military leader is always portrayed as slightly insane" - General Harlan Bache, Taps
  21. A fun, playful and wild version. And a good sounding recording, too!
