  1. My niece was in Marrakech when it struck. She was very, very lucky to get out.
  2. Hot and sunny. Fabulous for September. @Brigante will not be best pleased. How is it over the other side of The Pennines man?
  3. RIP Whitesnake Guitarist Bernie Marsden
  4. I was at the Manchester Poly show. I was 19 years old. I was very close to the stage and had a great time. People did yell out for Zeppelin songs but Plant put that to bed very early on. " We are an RnB Band not a stadium rock band" if I recall or something like that All Saints was a great venue. I also caught The Police there supporting a (in) famous Didsbury band called The Albertos, in the 70's. Gong too, and their off shoot Here and Now. Many a joint shared in there I can tell you.
  5. @Strider No, never went to Donnington as I worked away most summers at that time
  6. Jesus, the hatred for the English never ceases to amaze me.
  7. There is in the Happy thread
  8. @Reggie29 @slave to zep @rm2551 "Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda. You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me. And we sang as we watched as we put 3 past the Aussie Girls, You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me" Lionesses.

I was born in Stockport. Weirdly enough I don't drink Beer. When I did it was Robbies Bitter.
  10. Slow Roasted Char Sui Pork. Piggy has been marinated for 24 hours, It's in the oven on a slow roast for 4 hours. Chinese stylee Veg Stir fry on the side.
  11. Cycling 20 miles on an old railway line, which is now a cycle path, through the Peak District on a lovely summers day.
  12. Chilli this evening and a Crusty Cob. It's fiery, and we like it hot. I threw in a Sweet Potato to mellow it out. As the weather has thrown us out - because it's lovely, drinks and a joint in the garden pre dinner.
  13. A rare dry, sunny and warm day. What a treat. Alas that's it. Back to cold and rain tomorrow for the rest of August.
  14. To the Indian Cookbook we go this evening. Butter Chicken and Naan Breads
  15. Omelette Arnold Bennett. Crusty Bread. A Bottle of Rioja and a couple of Joints of Charas. Typical Friday evening munchie nosh.
  16. What a story Ian. Outstanding memories. Someone more in the know than me will come back to you I'm sure. I was also at The NEC that night though my memories of it being not very good, except for Richie Heywood's drumming, and was also at Buxton as it's (nearly) my home town.
  17. Sausage Cassarole done in the slow cooker. Coz it's like fucking Autumn outside
  18. Makes sense. But where is the rest of it? It was beautifully shot and being in B&W very atmospheric. I really can't believe that's all there is. Come to think of it what happened to the story of Zeppelin's show in Central Park in 1969? Yes we have the audio on Bootleg but didn't some guy have film footage?
  19. And the whinging just keeps on coming....... Glenn McGrath calls for investigation after England beat Australia in Ashes finale (msn.com)
  20. The ball was changed as per the rules of the game as it had gone out of shape and was checked by the Umpires. It's common practice as you know. Broad and Woakes bowled magnificently with the changed ball. In England we use the Dukes ball and is well suited to the conditions as in Australia the Cookaburra ball is used for the same reason. May I also remind you that if the weather in Manchester hadn't saved that game for Australia, then England would have regained the Urn.
