danelectro
Slide breaks down into different styles for me. I'm not crazy about players like Sonny Landreth that take into shred territory in favor of players with a more organic touch. I'm never sure how to determine who is the best at anything where there isn't a scorecard and even that isn't foolproof. Here are some slide guitarists I appreciate. JB Hutto Hound Dog Taylor Brian Jones Son House Bukka White Furry Lewis Blind Willie Johnson Lowell George George Harrison
Evster2012
^^How could I leave out George Harrison. Such a sweet melody!! Does David Gilmour's lap steel count??
danelectro
Does David Gilmour's lap steel count?? For sure. One thing I like about Gilmour's slide style is he wasn't a victim of Elmore James disease, he completely avoided that cliched trap.
Rock Action
My favorite slide player of all time is Mick Taylor. His work with the Stones (especially live)was unequaled. He still kicks butt.
