Strider
And because I met George Chakiris last week and I got to chat about "West Side Story" (Bernardo or Riff/Chita or Rita) with him, I watched the film again for at least the hundredth time. Cool stuff, man. 👍 Watched 'The Dirty Dozen' again. Savalas was awesome, along with Cassavetes. http://www.jumpingfrog.com/images/lobbycards/lob0213.jpg

Strider
The TCM Classic Film Festival was 'virtual' for the second year in a row this past weekend. These were two of the films I was most looking forward to watching on the TCM Film Festival schedule. And they did not disappoint. I had never seen the 1947 noir "They Won't Believe Me" but as soon as I saw that cast I was hooked…the always fabulous Susan Hayward and Jane Greer and the cast-against-type Robert Young. For decades, it was missing 15 minutes of footage that RKO cut in the 1950s until this new restoration that TCM showed at its proper 95-minute length. I had seen the 1945 Powell-Pressburger film "I Know Where I'm Going!" before but it was so long ago that all I could really recall from the film was the incredible entrance of Pamela Brown, one of those actresses like Eve Arden and Thelma Ritter and Margaret Sullavan, that I adore and wish had received more and better roles and recognition than they did. Watching the film again I was reminded that I always thought Roger Livesey made a mistake going after Wendy Hiller instead of Pamela Brown. Strider
I stayed up way late into the night/early morning to watch these two on TCM Monday night. "I Married a Witch" is the inspiration to the tv show "Bewitched", while "Princess O'Rourke" is a lesser precursor to "Roman Holiday". redrum
Great stuff, Strider. Give me the old movies any day. Borrowed this from a friend. Watching this tonight, if I can stay awake. I saw it in the theater in '76 with 'Sensurround.' Sounded like the guns were in the theater.

Strider
More Neil Simon. After "The Fortune Cookie" brought them together, The Odd Couple" was the second of ten films Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon would make together. Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis are so whiney in "The Out-of-Towners" that I root for the city of New York.
Strider
With last Sunday being Kenji Mizoguchi's birthday, I started a deep dive through his films. So far, I have watched these four from 1936 - 1941. Mizuguchi and Ozu are the giants of pre-Kurosawa Japanese Cinema.

Until the coronavirus hit, every movie I posted about in this thread was a movie I saw that night or recently in a movie theatre. Since then, I have been stuck watching movies at home in my Quarantine Cinema. But some theaters have reopened and I have ventured out a few times recently to a theatre. I have seen "Singing in the Rain", "The Wizard of Oz", "North by Northwest", and "Tenet" in a theatre in the past month. Do you realize how many hundreds of film credits Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing have between them? I am lucky if I have seen even 50% of their filmography.
