I am starting a topic about Natalie Merchant, but I will admit that I am not too familiar with her whole musical career. I will say that I do absolutely Love her song, "Carnival":

Such a beautiful song and video. Her voice alone turns me on so much in this song. I think that by this one song, I fell into a very heavy infatuation with this amazing and beautiful woman.

This is a live version of Natalie and "Carnival" that seems to make Her even more appealing. I like the fact that she let her hair go gray. She is even more beautiful than ever. Her "moves" at this performance are SO SEXY!!!

truly appreciate her as an artist. A friend in Utah sent me a CD back in the late 90s of hers and we went to a concert together that year. Have seen her just the one time yet she made a clear and unique impression with her viewpoint and delivery. I don't think a general audience knows what to do with her as she occupies a space that is all her own. Love to see what else happens in this thread, thank you for starting it kingzoso. That performance is still fresh in my mind as it was that night. She lets people in to see who she is.

I realize that this will never happen, but I think that a collaboration between Robert Plant and Natalie Merchant would make a great album. Kinda like Robert/Allison but more rocking and bluesy as opposed to the more laid-back and folkish material music from Robert and Allison on Raising Sand.

Another great version of "Carnival". I said it once and I will say it again and again and again. Natalie Merchant can sing and move. She has a great command of the stage and she knows she owns that stage. This also has a great guitar solo that makes the song Rock even more.

And oh SO SEXY!!! A very natural Beauty.

I didn’t think much of 10,000 Maniacs , so I never paid her solo stuff much attention….until I sat down one day and just started playing major scales ( in G I think ) over Carnival and then it struck me how good that guitar player was on that album, such a great tone too.
