the queen without a king
Alice In Chains Unplugged was my favourite. But what a bittersweet one though. On the one hand, you have awesome stripped down versions of AIC classics (That are given a new life with the acoustic elements) and on the other the sad state that Layne was in during this. I still get emotinal sometimes watching this performance. So sad he couldn't overcome his addiction. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zc3A9hmYmnk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dj7DDLtU8Yg

kirchzep27
I never thought of the 90s as an -unplugged era...that was sort of an aside. I think that the grunge movement of music was the biggest thing of the decade though. Very interesting how real music makes the splash in record sales etc. but -norah jones showed that too. I'm pretty sure the Unplugged series began as a way to showcase artists in an acoustic setting to let people know they didn't need a stack of amps to hide behind. The early episodes had a very different, Hootenanny-type feel compared to what the show would become.

Yes everybody have their own opinions, but I think that Eric... when he make the Unplugged, he wasn't trying to prove anything. But again that's my opinion, and I respect yours... But again that's my opinion, and I respect yours... What I was expressing wasn't an opinion but the reason behind Unplugged. It doesn't mean Clapton had anything to prove. If you look at some of the early episodes you will see there were a lot of hard rock/metal type acts. Clapton didn't do the show until years after it's inception. Looking back on it, I believe Tesla were actually the inspiration for the show with their acoustic record that featured a remake of Signs.
