LED ZEPPELIN's Proposed Welsh Gig 'Dead In The Water'

James McCarthy of the South Wales Echo reports that hopes that rock legends LED ZEPPELIN will play at Wales' Millennium Stadium have been dashed, stadium bosses have confirmed.

There had been hopes the band would tour major venues on the back of their successful comeback gig in London's O2 Arena last December.

In February a WRU spokesman said they had been in talks with the band's representative, Harvey Goldsmith, and by yesterday more than 16,000 people had signed an internet petition begging the band to tour.

But stadium manager Gerry Toms told the South Wales Echo: "It's dead in the water. Because the concert was a success there was hope of a tour, but that was a lot of speculation. It would be great if they would, but as far as we know that is dead in the water."

How is it news that something which was never going to happen isn't going to happen?!

In February a WRU spokesman said they had been in talks with the band's representative, Harvey Goldsmith...

All that means is they were in contact with Goldsmith's office ie they called and asked if he was interested.

I didn't think Goldsmith was their rep anyway, he promoted the O2 show but that doesn't mean he continues to represent them in any way. I guess Harvey sees $$$ signs and is trying to make it happen.
