2015 ACADEMY AWARDS PICK 'EM POOL

I liked Birdman a lot so I won't complain about it winning. Finished 12-12 on my ballot. My worst year in ages...which is what I suspected would happen in a hard to predict year. Really, only JK Simmons and Patricia Arquette were the real locks of the night. Most everything else was up for grabs.

Good job on your picks, Strider. I don't think my criteria matches that of the academy's...I'm ok with that.

After watching tonight, I want to see The Imitation Game and Whiplash.

"Birdman" and "The Grand Budapest Hotel" tied with four Oscars each, with "Whiplash" winning three. In a statistical oddity, 12 of the Oscars, fully 50% of the 24 categories, went to the first nominee listed on the ballot.

As for the people here who played along and posted their picks, to anyone who has followed her exploits on the NFL Pool thread the past few years, it will come as no surprise that that wonder woman from New England, jb126 finished in first place...kicking our butts once again. She was the only one who swept the top 6 categories. In fact, she was the only one of us who finished above .500.

Here is how we all finished last night:

jb126 14-10

sixpense: 11-13

Strider: 11-13

ebk: 10-14

Reggie29: 6-18

zepscoda: 5-17 (2 categories missed)

Ddladner: 1-7 (only picked 8 categories)

Congratulations jb126! :cheer:

Thanks for doing the pool Strider!

This is the most I have watched of an Oscars in years... Rangers were on so flipping back to see goals and the OT/ shootout was a must, so I watched 85% of the Oscars...here's what stood out for me:

Neil Patrick Harris was born to host this event he was outstanding.

It's hard to get everybody in the memorial segment ,but I can't believe they left Joan Rivers out. Also, I miss the movie clips they use to show of each of the departed artists.

Lady Gaga blew me away! What an incredible voice she has.

Ema Stone is drop dead gorgeous.

And last but not least, I must see Whiplash and The Grand Budapest hotel.

Thanks again Strider for setting up this pool, hope there is no wine hangover to deal with this morning... Congrats on the win jb126!

I liked Lady Gaga's performance and teared up a bit when Julie Andrews came out afterwards. But I am sorry, these youtube reaction videos are a scourge of modern life that I studiously try to avoid. If that guy is such a Lady Gaga fan, why doesn't he shut the hell up and listen to her sing instead of yakking all the way thru?
