achilleslaststand77
I love the version of the Immigrant Song off HTWWW..... the solo especially is one of my favs. I've also heard the BBC Sessions version..... but I don't have any Zepp bootlegs so I was curious as to what all you bootleg experts thought was the best version of this song (I do know they didn't perform it much after 1972 though). solar
Off the top of my head, I don't believe they performed it at all after the '72 Japanese tour (when they did it as an encore). I'm partial to the Blueberry Hill version from 9-4-70, personally. EDIT: I stand corrected - upon further review, it was done as an encore early on the December '72 UK tour as well. Big Klu
I remember my goofy mission when I was in bootleg-getting mode was too find that mythical version where Plant hits all the highs....AND the taper had his levels set. I think I decided it was the partial 9-23-71 gig. but that was a while ago (the decision...not the gig)....
SilverVishnu
One that strikes me in favour of Plant is the 1971-05-03 Copenhagen gig. Robert was ON for that show - check out the Immigrant Song scream around 1:24 (if your copy runs at correct speed).
achilleslaststand76
Blue berry hill was a great version
Big Klu
blueberry hill as good sound quality, but it seems like they were playing it slower than usual, or the tape is slower...or whatever, otherwise i'd take that over tokyo 9/23.
zepncrowes
my top 2: 8-31-71 Orlando- I love how you can hear Bonham count in and just kill the drums. 6-18-72 from seattle- something about that version just sends chills down my spine- I think it is the way Page quickly slides his hand down the neck at each stop in the song. guitarmy
I remember my goofy mission when I was in bootleg-getting mode... hahaha yeah I'm in bootleg-getting mode right now! I just got a 500 GB external hard drive because I was running out of space!
Mattmc1973
I seem to remember the version from 8/7/71 Montreux being really good, because Robert's voice was INSANE in that gig.
fsmith9095
9/29/071 is an awesome version. And 5/3/71 is great. The version of Four Sticks is mind altering too.
ally
All of them sound great. I'm a little partial to the 72 version, mainly because of Bonhams fills. What a kick ass opening number.
