  1. It was 70 here a couple of years ago around this time, and that's nuts for this part of the country.
  2. That's the best song on the album, and undoubtedly one of the best songs they ever did. That sound is otherworldly.
  3. The Packers have three First Team All-Pros this year: Aaron Rodgers Davante Adams (unanimous pick) De'Vondre Campbell What's interesting is that Rodgers got 34 of 50 first-place votes, and it's the same 50 people who vote for the MVP. Hmm.
  4. I just had some leftover dressing from Thanksgiving that I froze the day of so that we'd have it for a later date. Still tasted pretty damn good.
  5. Nice now, but it won't be like that on Sunday. Yikes.
  6. The first time I ever saw Saturn through a telescope, it blew my mind. I couldn't believe something that beautiful existed, much less existed where we could see it.
  7. A bagel with peanut butter and a bottle of Peach Mango Crystal Light.
  8. Ronnie Spector has passed away following a battle with cancer. She was 78.
  9. IDOT (Illinois Department of Transportation) is really good about salting streets in advance of any ice or snow, and main streets are plowed as soon as possible, so driving on ice doesn't happen that often. At most, you might have to drive on some impacted snow, but you treat that like driving on any kind of wet pavement. Take your time, slow down, and keep a good distance between you and the car in front of you. Also, I can't remember the last time Chicago got an ice storm. Those are more common here, where moisture coming out of the southeast keeps temperatures cold enough for freezing rain, but not cold enough to turn it to snow.
  10. To get this thread back on topic, I don't think we're the only intelligent life forms in the universe. The universe is too vast, too unexplored/unknown to be able to say that bipedal humanoids on planet Earth are all there is. I'd like to think there is a planet out there somewhere just like this one, and someone is sitting behind a computer, or whatever passes for a computer in their world, saying the same thing I'm saying. Also, just because it's beautiful, one of my favorite examples of astrophotography:
  11. Jesus bleepin' Christ. There's already a thread for the Big Nasty. Use it. I avoid it to keep my blood pressure from going through the roof, I don't want to have to avoid this thread too. Maybe there's a subreddit or something devoted to vaccine misinformation if you want to jack off about how awful/bad/scary/fascist it is.
  12. I don't live in Chicago anymore, but it's my hometown, and I'll always love it. It has problems, I won't BS you about that, but to me, those problems are worth it. My least favorite thing would have to be the winters. I don't hate the cold, but I hate ice and snow. Well, a little snow I can deal with, but I've had to shovel two feet of snow before, and that's way too much for me. LOL. So, if you can't handle bitter cold and the occasional foot or more of snow, Chicago isn't for you. My favorite thing...not having to worry about earthquakes, tornados, wildfire, and hurricanes. Any remnants of tropical systems that make their way that far north aren't even worth talking about. Summers can be hot, but you don't have the extended mugginess that summers down here have. Chicago has a lot of really fun things to do and see, plenty of fantastic restaurants, and the public transportation system is top notch. That said, the property taxes, sales taxes, and gas taxes are the highest in the country. So, it's not cheap to live there. Keep that in mind when making your final decision.
  13. Not watching TV right now, I'm listening to the radio. WBBM AM out of Chicago. On a clear night, I can pick up most Chicago stations with little difficulty.
  14. The Packers will play the lowest remaining seed in the NFC after Sunday, and I'm hoping the Eagles can catch lightning in a bottle twice and beat Tom Brady. Again. That would mean we'd play the Eagles, but I think we can take them. Might not be easy, but so long as we win, I'm happy.
  15. Cold as heck, but I can take it. Not looking forward to the prospect of possibly significant snow on Sunday, but I'll deal with it.
  16. I grew up watching Full House, so this is like a chunk of my childhood gone. I hope he died painlessly, whatever the cause.
  17. I've got the Smithsonian Channel on right now for some background noise while I do some word puzzles.
  18. Stranger things have happened. I remember when the 9-7 Giants came to Lambeau Field and beat the piss out of the 15-1 Packers. The Cardinals have looked mortal the last half of the season.
