Thanks Djokovic for finishing him off in three sets. Now I can go to sleep...and it's only 3:40 in the morning.

Murray is grinding his best but Djokovic just took the second set 7-5. It seems all but a formality now. Djoko is just too good for Murray.
  3. First of all, Carolina's offensive line should in no way be confused with the sieve New England's line was this year. Belichick got away with being cheap on the O-line last year, trading Logan away and all. But it came back to haunt them this year as the Patriots could neither run or protect Brady. Carolina can run the ball and that neutralizes Denver's pass rush. Since Carolina is a run first team, and not a team that throws it 40 or more times a game, Von Miller and Demarcus Ware tearing around the ends won't have any detrimental effect on Carolina's game plan, as they like to pound it up the gut. Hell, they will welcome them coming in the backfield as the runner heads up the middle. I like Carolina's defense to stop Denver's offense a little more than Denver's defense to stop Carolina. Hell, it's still mindblowing that the Patriots lost to Denver. Weather could have an effect on the game. The Bay Area weather is notoriously fickle any time of the year...it could rain and be windy as hell. I'm with Rick as far as liking the under...and Carolina. Hopefully you got on Carolina early when the line was only -3.5 or -4. It's now up to -4.5 or -5 on some books and you could have to lay as much as 6 or 7 points before the end of next week if current betting trends continue...nearly 80% of the money is coming in on Carolina.
  4. I hate what they've done to the All-Star game so I won't be watching.

Djoko swept the first set in a breeze, 6-1. Murray settled down and made a match of it in the second set...3-3...but now just lost his serve to go down a break, 3-4. If Djoko holds serve, this could be a quick 3-set sweep.
  6. Brings a tear to the eye, Ady. You cannot think of Motörhead without thinking of the hallowed Hammersmith Odeon (yeah, I know it is called the Hammersmith Apollo now, but it will always be the Odeon to me). They should have a black banner permanently on the building in memorium of Lemmy...and fly a flag half-mast. The site is giving me problems trying to post photos, so here are the ones from Lemmy's tomb that I couldn't post last night. They took the whiskey and left the picks.
  7. "If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear flowers in your hair..." Signe Toly Anderson September 15, 1941-January 28, 2016 R.I.P.
  8. After paying respects to Lemmy the other day at Forest Lawn, I walked out and came across Ronnie James Dio's tomb/crypt right across from where Lemmy is entombed. I had no idea Dio was buried in Hollywood! He has a beautiful resting place and the Forest Lawn people said fresh flowers are ALWAYS sent. I love the heavy metal salute on the flower urns on either side of the tomb.

Hooray! Steffi stands alone another day. But eventually Serena will catch and pass her 22 major titles. Now...who do I root for between Djokovic and Murray in the Men's Final? No question...gotta go with Djokovic.
  11. ^^^Just found out thru a friend on Facebook. Word is Signe Anderson, another founding member of Jefferson Airplane, died on the same day as Paul Kantner...January 28. No official obituary yet but Marty Balin confirmed the news. It's so weird as one of the records I listened to after hearing of Paul Kantner's death was Signe's last gig with Jefferson Airplane at the Fillmore West. Who will be January's next victim?
  12. A month later, I took the opportunity of having some days off to head up to the Hollywood Hills Forest Lawn and pay my respects to Lemmy. Since the actual service was closed to the public, this was my first opportunity to make the pilgrimage. Forest Lawn had removed the Jack Daniel's and other whiskey bottles left behind by previous pilgrims. There is still no name plate on Lemmy's crypt...you have to look for crypt #C66400.

  14. Only two more days to go. It's been a brutal month, for sure. Watch out for falling coconuts, Keef! For some reason, I thought Paul Kantner had already died. Now that he really has passed, that is two down on the Jefferson Airplane scorecard. Paul Kantner: deceased, age 74. Spencer Dryden: deceased in 2005, age 66. Jack Casady: alive, 71. Jorma Kaukonen: alive, 75. Grace Slick: alive, 76. Signe Anderson: alive, 74. Marty Balin: alive, 73.
  15. ^^^Be careful what you wish for. Ddladner, I am flabbergasted. Merci beaucoup.
  16. The Wayans brothers continue their assault on innocent Americans with another one of their cinematic crap-fests..."50 Shades of Black". Between the Wayans and Tyler Perry and Kevin Hart, it's no wonder people think black people will swallow any swill you give them if these types of movies continue to make money. John Singleton hasn't made a decent thing in years, Spike Lee is all over the map. Steve McQueen can't do it all...there's got to be someone else out there willing to stop pandering to Stepin Fetchit-level humour and raise the bar a little. Every trailer I see for black-themed movies is filled with the dumbest and base stereotypes.
  17. As you might imagine for a guy who loved his cannoli and sausages, Richard Castellano (Clemenza) died fairly young at age 55 on December 10, 1988.
  18. We have no weather here so I have been getting my fix watching Snowmegeddon (or Snowpocalypse, if you prefer) hit the East Coast.
  19. Being surprised, but happy that it wasn't "Revenant", by "The Big Short" winning the PGA Best Picture award, I went to see it again tonight. It's even better the second-time around, as you're more prepared for the specifics and mechanics of the story. Again, I just love the entire cast, including the people who pop up in small roles like Marisa Tomei and Melissa Leo (who was completely unrecognizable to me). Two items in the closing credits (in which Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks" sounds so good blasting out of the theatres surround sound speakers) caught my eye. 1. Someone omitted Memphis Minnie's name in the song credits for "When the Levee Breaks". Now, on Led Zeppelin IV, the band credits Memphis Minnie on the album label so I am guessing this mistake was by someone connected to the movie. But you just know some busybody will use this error to blame Led Zeppelin and accuse them of not giving Memphis Minnie her due. If I was one of Jimmy or Robert's lawyers I would call up the movie's producers and give them hell and tell 'em to fix the mistake. 2. MC5 founder-guitarist Wayne Kramer plays guitar on the original score during the film.

^^^Nah, I wasn't worried at all. I, too, was switching between Federer and the Warriors-Spurs game. Both of them beat downs. Serena beating Rick's girlfriend El Grunto Sharapova was even more of a lock. Shrub was President the last time Sharapova beat Serena in a Major tournament.
  22. ^^^Not that I'm a Clipper fan, so I don't really follow them in the news, but weren't they on a tear without Blake in the lineup? Seems they play better without him. Perhaps a trade is looming.
  23. That's the same line of bullshit the so-called pundits said two years ago about Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks. Then they went in and pounded the fuck out of Denver. Super Bowl jitters, my ass.
  24. Tell Michael it was only business...I always liked him.
