  1. Really? You don't think it's too much money for too many years? How old is Chris Davis? At least it's not the size of Albert Pujols. Hell, every team has bullpen issues, hehe. AL Central definitely looking beastly...perhaps more than the AL East. As for Cespedes, we kept hearing the Angels were interested in him but so far, nothing. Not sure I want the Angels to get him after his flameout in the playoffs.
  2. Buffalo Bills hire first woman coach! http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000626344/article/bills-hire-kathryn-smith-first-fulltime-female-coach Wow! Who would have thought Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills would be on the vanguard of gender-equality?!? If I remember correctly, Buffalo is a pretty conservative town. It certainly ain't NYC or San Francisco. Wonder how our resident Bill fan, Rick, is taking this news?
  3. Your Clippers...Your Rams...why don't you just move to L.A. already, Frosty the Snowman? Enjoy your Snowmegeddon this weekend!
  4. That Warriors beat down of Cleveland was so fun to watch. You can still smell the champagne in the air.

Like Tiger Woods and his chase of Jack Nicklaus' All-Time Majors record, we are seeing a great athlete's pursuit of record-breaking supremacy curtailed by the breaking down of his body. It seemed once upon a time that Nadal had a chance to pass Federer's championship totals in the 4 major tournaments. Now it is looking less and less likely. Even his beloved clay court isn't the safe haven it used to be. Throw in the travails of Peyton Manning, Kobe Bryant, and even the signs of recent slippage by Lebron James, it is obvious that we will be witnessing the demise of a huge number of big name athletes these next few years. By the end of this decade, the following athletes will have either retired or be on the downside of their careers with no championship hopes: Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobli, Lebron James, Dywane Wade, Dirk Nowitzki, Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, Peyton Manning, Tony Romo, Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisburger, Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald.
  6. And while I am at it...fuck the Rams (and any other team) coming to L.A.!
  7. I could give a rat's ass if Peyton Manning gets a second Super Bowl. I don't have any sentimental feelings about Manning and certainly none for the Broncos. Pittsburgh vs. New England would have been a far better AFC matchup...the two winningest franchises in the AFC going toe-to-toe. Cincinnati screwed us out of a great game. Fuck you Bungholes! May your bungling continue for a thousand lifetimes. Rick, I don't get your betting line logic. I can see Denver being underdogs to Carolina, and even New England might be giving points to Carolina in a Super Bowl matchup. But given both Brady's and Manning's playoff experience, if Arizona beats Carolina I don't see Las Vegas making Arizona the favourite over either New England or Denver.
  8. That's so rad...you're a cool lady, Dd! Just watch out for Beezlebub.
  9. ^^^Thank you, Kiwi. I've been having trouble posting lately...not short, direct posts but any long posts where I try to upload articles and/or photos creates havoc. Thank you Mods for the clean-up.

Australian Open time. Serena and Djokovic are the favourites. Temperatures are usually sweltering.
  11. If Seattle had just kicked the field goal on 4th and 5 in the first half, they wouldn't have needed an onside kick at the end. Then they mismanaged the clock and yardage situation when they got the ball back at the end of the first half and Hauschka missed a long 50-plus yarder.
  12. At least you had the consideration and tact to capitalize his name correctly.
  13. The usual suspects head the top of the playoff charts...jb126 and Walter tied at 7-1. jb126: 7-1 Walter: 7-1 ebk: 6-2 Mrs. Walter: 6-2 paul carruthers: 6-2 redrum: 6-2 SANBR: 6-2 Walter Jr.: 6-2 in_the_evening: 5-3 jabe: 5-3 LedZeppfan77: 4-4 Strider: 4-4 Stocksontherocks: 3-5 zepscoda: 3-5 Reggie29: 2-6 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES SUNDAY JANUARY 24 Pick your team and the total amount of points you think will be scored in the game. For instance...if you think the score will be 24-17, then your total points would be 41. AFC Game: New England @ Denver 3:05pm ET NFC Game: Arizona @ Carolina 6:40pm EST
  14. A Robert Ludwig pressing? Did you nab it? What was the asking price?
  15. C'mon Rick. Surely you've heard Robert tout his Wolves of Wolverhampton by now? Robert has made such a second career of espousing his love for Wolverhampton that even the most soccer-ignorant American Zeppelin fan should know Robert's favourite team by heart.
  16. Fascinating. Two people (Ross62 and Freeyyaa) read and post the exact same article and come away with completely opposite reactions. I'll go with Ross62's take.
  17. No Robert Plant reaction but Dave Lewis did have this 1988 photo of Robert and David together (looks like they're on a plane) on his TBL page.
  18. Yes, for the Conference Championship round we will pick the scores along with the game. I left my football notebook at work over the weekend so I won't be able to tabulate the latest until tomorrow.
  19. Wow that was some tricky wind on that last field goal by Denver. 10-9 Pittsburgh at the half. Denver has a lot of ground to make up if they're going to hit the 50 points predicted by SANBR.
  20. London must have radically changed since I was last there. I certainly don't recall any Starbucks. Why would Starbucks be in England anyway? They drink tea over there. Ooops, the Starbucks was in reference to The Only Way To Fly's post and I'm having difficulties reformatting my post. All well and good but it's also filled with pickpockets, beggars asking non-stop for money (including organized gangs of children working under the thumb of some adults...it's something right out of Charles Dickens "Oliver Twist"), vermin, rubbish and garbage, and varying levels of safe water. My travel wish list is fairly short...having already knocked off a fair share of countries in my lifetime. 1. New Zealand/Australia 2. Iceland 3. Antarctica 4. Various islands/surf spots in the South Pacific 5. Argentina/Chile
  21. No snow in Denver. That might help Denver even more than Pittsburgh.
  22. You gotta wonder what the result would have been if the game had a normal 4pm EST start time. Once Seattle's body clocks adjusted, they stopped Carolina. I guess my sentimental pick for the NFC is Carson Palmer and the Cardinals over the Camolinas.
