  1. My favorite Bowie song here; a very nice live performance. A one of a kind voice and talent. "Changes" -(hope the annoying long commercial doesn't show up in front of this video) EDIT!! I found the same video, better quality audio, crisp visuals and NO Commercial....Win. missy
  2. In case the Topic Creator comes back, there is now the ultimate David Bowie Book available for purchase from Genesis Publications. We all know how nice Jimmy's book turned out! So I've heard, wasn't lucky enough to get a copy myself. This information was taken directly from the Genesis website. The signed limited edition book by David Bowie and Masayoshi Sukita: Genesis is proud to announce SPEED OF LIFE, the new publication born out of a 40-year collaboration between musician, actor and producer, David Bowie, and photographer and designer, Masayoshi Sukita. In their fine bound edition, the authors have opened up Sukita's archives to assemble a 300-page photo essay which, captioned with their own recollections and memories, traces the development of Bowie's remarkable career from 1972 to the present day. Originally released on the 1980 album Scary Monsters, parts 1 and 2 of 'It's No Game' are selected for inclusion in this edition by David Bowie - presented on a picture disc bearing two portraits from his iconic "Heroes" photo sessions. Exclusive to the SPEED OF LIFE limited edition, this rare vinyl record pressing is inset into the inner back cover of the book. Published in a craftsman bound limited edition of 2,000 copies. Price 360.00 GBP (554.00 USD). How cool is that? A vinyl record in the book too. Looks like you can buy it now, so David Bowie fans head over to Genesis before they sell out.
  3. Peter Frampton is performing tomorrow night June 14th, at the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica, Ca. This is a benefit show with other special guests for 826LA, Free Writing and Tutoring Programs for Children. General Admission Tickets, $250.00 and VIP Tickets $500.00. All proceeds from this event will support the non-profit writing and tutoring center, 826LA and it's free programs for children. I could not determine if tickets are still available or not, but there is more info on Peter's website if you are interested. Not having listened to Peter Frampton in ages, I felt compelled to check out a couple of videos. The first one everybody probably knows. Like Stairway to Heaven it was way overplayed in the 1970's, but that doesn't make it sound any less fantastic (to me) today. In fact, this video reminds me what a great guitarist Peter is. The song is from the multi-million selling "Frampton Comes Alive!" Do You Feel Like We Do? This one is a more obscure song with a great slide show included. From the follow up album,"I'm in You," the song is "You Don't have to Worry," a sweet ballad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2WkCxuZJbk I know no one cares but I have to ask myself, how did I not notice this other Golden God in the day?! They don't come much more gorgeous imo. Ladies? Missy
  4. Weather Report, the pause that refreshes.... Weather Report, Birdland
  5. ^^^ Possibly the greatest YES song ever in my opinion. Made me play this one off the follow-up album, Fragile. Perfect for a Sunday Sunrise here....... Heart of the Sunrise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDqG9agd5wc&feature=relmfu "Love comes to you and you follow Lose one on to the Heart of the Sunrise SHARP-DISTANCE How can the wind with its arms all around me Lost on a wave and then after Dream on on to the Heart of the Sunrise......" Love Rick Wakeman's playing, wow.
  6. Happy Belated Birthday Bob Dylan......I only came to appreciate Bob Dylan in the last year thanks to a friend. Well, I love good lyricists so clearly I missed the boat, big time! This is an interesting alt. version of Tangled Up in Blue. Not sure if this is available in his extensive back catalog but sure wouldn't mind having this one on vinyl. 7. ally, I agree with what Fool said, that you have such a positive attitude and patience too. I'm wishing hard you will get some permanent relief soon my friend. My unhappy gripe are people that are so full of themselves they act like they are doing you a favor gracing you with their presence or saying hello.
  8. Don't believe this has been posted yet, but Neil Young is coming out with an autobiography October 2nd, 2012. "Waging Heavy Peace" is available for pre-order on Amazon currently for $17.21 (reg.$30.00). This is what the little info box says. "An iconic figure in the history of rock and pop culture (inducted not once but twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame), Neil Young has written his eagerly awaited memoir: 'I felt that writing books fit me like a glove; I just started and I just kept going'. Young offers a kaleidoscopic view of his personal life and musical career, spanning his time in bands Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills & Nash, and his role as the patron saint of the grunge scene; and moving from the snows of Ontario through the LSD-laden boulevards of 1966 Los Angeles to the contemplative paradise of Hawaii today. Candid, witty and revealing, this book takes its place beside the classic memoirs of Bob Dylan and Keith Richards"* I can't wait for this as there are not many books out there on Neil Young and this should be a good one!........ Missy *(from the Amazon site)
  9. Thanks ledzepfvr and Anjin-san! Spring is in the air here too. Sunshine, flowers, and blue sky all around. Happy Easter to everyone. missy
  10. The Eagles, 59 days to go until I'm there!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wongfCD9u4g&feature=related
  11. Kiwi, I hope you had a great time at the ballet with your mom. How ironic that you posted this about going with your mom, because I just purchased two tickets (platinum seating) to go see The Eagles with my mom on May 4th!! I haven't been to a big concert in over 20 years and she has never been to a Rock concert. We should have a blast together and that made me very happy today!....missy
  12. Such sad news. I grew up watching The Monkees every Saturday and hearing their many great Pop hits on the AM car radio. RIP Davy Jones...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUZeZ1e441A
  13. All from my favorite poet Maya Angelou "You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it. ” “We need much less than we think we need.” “Be a rainbow in someone else's cloud.” ......and my favorite Maya Angelou, paraphrased. "Never make someone a priority in your life when you are only an option in their life"
  14. Badfinger, definitely not a one hit wonder band! And this too...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=um4pnvJr07A&feature=related
  15. Kiwi, thank-you (no pun intended!) for reminding me of this song. With lyrics like these... "If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you. When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me..... " I'm almost tempted to go and slot this above TRS, not quite, but close!! ...missy
  16. "These are the seasons of emotion and like the winds they rise and fall This is the wonder of devotion - I see the torch we all must hold. This is the mystery of the quotient - Upon us all a little rain must fall...... With lyrics like these coupled with the gorgeous melody, it's a no brainer for me. The Rain Song all the way!
  17. Scanning You/tube I came across 3 very nice Neil acoustic songs. I believe (not sure) all 3 were never released. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47ZpZ7DJ8Js I really like this ^^ one! ....missy
  18. Hi Fool, I'm sorry to read this. I am sending good wishes your way and keeping my fingers crossed that your son will remain in the Army. I'm sure he is a great asset and has already given many years of loyal service too. My son is going into the Army here soon and so I think that makes us both Army Moms. Best of luck to you and your son. ........missy
  19. Wouldn't that be the icing on the cake? I took a good listen to the 38 minute jam session and thought it was great. Neil can still rock with the best of them. I will preorder this one as soon as a release date is given. And please yes, a tour too Neil (with Crazy Horse).
  20. Congratulations kiwi, that isn't too far off! Great accomplishment. I hope you get all you want in the future from your studies and degree. I'm happy today to see you here posting again......been too long! .....missy
  21. Agree with you, I've never heard that ^^^ before, it's very good! It reminded me of another jazz player, Larry Carlton. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdbKA0yJB6o&feature=watch_response
  22. Jahfin, I have held off buying the Archives too for now. I do own Massey Hall and am thinking of getting Fillmore. Did you think the Fillmore CD was worth it for only 6 songs? I wonder why so few? I'm not sure if this would interest you, but the Riverboat performance CD is available as a standalone purchase through Neil's site for about $22.00. That one is unavailable separately from the Archives anywhere else as far as I know. Last question, would it be logical to assume that since the CD's are @ 44 kHz and the Blu-Ray are @192 kHZ that the Blu-Ray would sound 4 times better with decent speakers? I am wondering because if the price drops I might go for it, especially if the sound is 4 times better on the BR. .......missy
