  1. Such a good band... I got hooked on one of their best ofs ... Some real hidden gems
  2. +1 Strider's love of music, knowledge of Led Zeppelin (he has to use more than one hand to count how many times hes seen them live) & his overall commentary and personality are one reason I come to this board... Soooo lets all just chill
  3. Taurus is an instrumental... Plant is the Singer/lyricist... Page wrote the music... So Plant being at the show proves what?
  4. Such a good version but if we could only get that effect off of RPs voice... The DVD that came out with bits of shows is gonna be awkward someday when the remaining members realize that warts and all shows would be gobbled up if released...
  5. I've heard and don't call me out on this but I think the moby grape line was a respectful nod to a band RP liked and all were cool with it... Could be wrong ... Not 100%... But... To use your point about Moby Grape... They would have more right with that example than Spirit with the INSTRUMENTAL Taurus... In an instrumental sense if something was blatant I could understand but in this case the songs are only slightly similar and what Page does is way more intricate...
  6. I've scene comedy routines where a comedian plays the same 3 to 4 chords and starts singing numerous different songs... Probably could be youtubed as well... Cases like this make me think someday musicians will never be able to use the Am C G or D chords because it sounds like ... Oh wait every classic or modern pop rock or country song in history... This case is pissing me off... My expert says it does my expert says it doesn't... The greed is ridiculous
  7. I agree with the above just a money grab. The fact that forum members here have found examples of the STH intro chord progression that predate both recordings if the Zep lawyers lost this case I would question how good these lawyers really are and I'm already skeptical of the judge on this one... With his statement of "substantially similar" I would read that as this situation is coincidence and not theft
  8. My thought, and this is just speculation for the sake of discussion, is that RP probably felt like he couldn't do the high notes justice. That is if they even thought about playing it or even practiced it. Which would be odd cause he sang it in his lower register quite a bit back in the day and those versions are nice. The song has such a great vibe to it. Love this thread topic...
  9. Breaking Bad what a great show right? Has to be one of the greatest. Great acting. Plot development. Controversial subject matter. A focus on substance abuse.
  10. Its such a matter of taste and its so hard to sway someone who knows nothing but what is heard on the radio. Modern day radio pop and rock can have such monotonous tones. Guitar, synth ... etc. But some people love it and if you let them listen to something out of the box such as a 1977 Led Zeppelin bootleg they cringe and look at you weirdly with the thought of when are you going to stop this madness. (Beautiful madness to my ears). This from experience as I have a friend who listens to music from a very studio perfection pop 4/4 meter perspective. Studio Zeppelin he can handle for the most part but mainly the more radio friendly hits. In a lot of ways I respect some of his choices in music and he has a mind like a steel trap dropping lyrics in conversation at that perfect moment. Again though anything "outside of the box" say some Stooges or Psych music and the weird look returns. I still try to convert any chance I get as sometimes it takes a few listens before I can get into some music. 1977 Ft. Worth... Boom. Page Plant Jones Bonham ... chills...
  11. What are the differences you hear? I hear a lot of his father in him but do hear his twist on the style. What specific differences do you hear? Oh and just to be clear im being sincere not patronizing
  12. Wow i think i need a shot it bit so hard
  13. Wow... But was it recorded? Is it in someones hands? The way board members are on here if there was a remote chance and a name were dropped i could see a small militia build in no time lol... Zep army unite
  14. There is no way they can sue for that descending riff...its been used over and over again... And if its the first four notes of the guitar listen to these first four notes... https://youtu.be/IxgY9eEFiYM
  15. ^ this... Its painful time consuming... But to be good its what it takes
