  1. The realisation that British Summer Time ends this weekend. Clocks go back an hour which means the impending darkness is to come and of course I happen by chance to hear an ad on the TV for fucking Christmas. When will we be free of this torment? My reckoning is that in 2 months time it will be here like the endless re union rumours. I need to find a therapist
  2. Cloudy today about 12 degrees C. The sooth sayers are predicting a cold snap this weekend. Blue sky on offer but temps @ freezing at night to about 8 degrees in the day. Should be a fine weekend. Scotland predicted for snow flurries which may drift south. Also BST ends so the clocks go back this weekend. Very grim indeed
  3. It's a Pioneer PL 990. You couldn't be more correct man. That dropping of the needle at the start. Oh the bass. Have re lived many happy tunes. Up to now have had all sorts. My Stone Roses 12"'s. Some John Martyn, Man, Blue Oyster Cult, Zepp of course, Black Uhuru - Black Sounds Of Freedom was fucking awesome. There is a record fair in Manchester this weekend and armed with a wodge of spondoolicks, it will be like going back to the 70's.Mrs CP is going shopping too - but not for vinyl
  4. Wankers !! The Tories have always been the same. Screw the needy, give to the rich. It's about time a little direct action is needed. I remember when the evil witch "Thatcher the milk snatcher" was in. Riots, mass unemployment, industrial action. Goes hand in hand with these very unpleasant people. Hope you get things sorted Joe?
  5. Crikey I'm almost getting to CJW's standards. A bowl of Cheerios, bowl of blueberries and natural yoghurt, Half a Red Grapefruit but I blew it with only a small glass of Innocent OJ
  6. Just been up to Buxton in The Peaks and it was grim. Cold damp and foggy. But when I got home it has cleared and is very pleasant. Washing out drying in a soft southerly breeze
  7. I nearly bought a technics but a friend warned me that as they don't make them anymore it is hard to repair if it goes wrong. I plumped for a mid priced Pioneer. £129 notes . Played said album and it is great. I have an old Denon amp and some floor standing Missions. Sound is rich and meaty. I will need to clean up my vinyl but as you said a real listening experience
  8. My turntable arrived. First album on Led Zeppelin 2. What a joy to hear Vinyl again
  9. Great Chilli last nght. Cooked for about 5 hours. No water but a few glasses of Rioja
  10. Thanks guys. I had a great day.Played a round of golf in glorious autumn weather in the morning. Bought a record deck, which I have wanted for years. ( when it arrives next week the first platter on it is my original Led Zeppelin 2) Then we went with friends for dinner in Manchester which I will post a review in our foodie thread later. Amazingly didn't have a toot as we got in late. I am saving that for tonight !! Woke up fresh this morning to another glorious warm autumn morning. Clubs a t the ready! By the way Priscilla is budding to her nearts content. She really is a picture. I will post one next week. I reckon only 2 or 3 weeks away Once again thanks for all your wishes
  11. Baked fresh Mackerel, chrizo tomato sauce, Crispy Roast Spuds. And Charles I was a vegetarian for 10 years so I know what to do with pulses and beans
  12. That will be Striders dinner. It's the time difference Joe
  13. One for you Charles: A brown lentil shepherds pie. Yum
  14. £406 a ticket ! Saw them in 82 and they were dull then. If me and Mrs CP went I could rent a villa in Spain for the week at the cost. Apparently the rumour mill is well and truly active as they are "in talks" for The Glastonbury Festival next summer - but I highly doubt it. Can't see farmer Eavis paying out the millions these greedy bastards would ask.
  15. Was supposed to be marking someones handicap card for Golf. But unfortunately due to the onset of Winter I don't think so.
  16. Grim. Dark cold and wet. And just for a change a wind that cuts through you like a knife. God helps us for the next 6 months :'(
  17. Yes the Pheasant wasn't blessed with taking off skills. On the other hand evolution wasn't kind to Ducks either who still can't get to grips with landing
  18. Lamb Tagine. Rice and a few glasses of Spanish Red
  19. Mrs CP recovered from her bout of the devils grip so southern fried chicken, fries. A surprisingly OK bottle of Merlot was my choice. She had a Spanish white - also good.
