  1. Maybe I'm misreading you, Robert, but it sounds sarcastic. What I "expect" from this board (or any public form) is people contributing what they know from life's experience. Learn and grow together. If I did in fact misunderstand you, please have a beer on me!
  2. Found some more... And of course, I have these.
  3. Hey Al, you look oddly familiar to me!
  4. In a word, no. All three toms are tuned in thirds just like any set should be. And I don't think his bass work sounds like a double kick. It's just that most drummers would need an extra foot to pull off the things he did. Of course, ditching that Iron Cobra or DW5000 for a good ol' Speed King would be a start. Ya hear me Charlie Benante?
  5. Why wait for more pieces? You don't need to get stuff together! Pick your fave and run with it! Seriously! You don't need a gallery or a portfolio! You're not applying for a job. If people want your piece, they want that piece. End of story! Put a link in your sig to your MySpace and direct people to your print for sale. If you get a response, consider a website. In the meanwhile, keep working on your art. The beauty is, this work is already done. You needn't fear a big committment or investment. You make a few copies. That's it. Times have changed, and they've changed to your advantage. The bottom line is, you'll make the people who buy your art way happier than the money you get selling it. The money you make will pay for art supplies.
  6. See what I mean? I paid almost $400 for an art print that some of these I've seen here could easily eclipse! 325 pounds I think. And another hundred to have it framed. Yeah, some of us do that for the right piece! And after you sell a few prints, imagine what you could get for the original! Assuming you could part with it.
  7. Agreed. I have Ocheltree's video (Trust Your Ears), and I find several discrepencies in it. For example, Bonham never used a felt damping strip on his Vistalite bass drum. Photos bear that out. And I can hear his drums. All five. None of his toms, not the 14, the 18 or the 20 are detuned. Nope.
  8. ^^Thanks Sugarplum! The important thing is to get it out there. Don't be shy! Just DO IT! If you need any assistance, I'll help you out. NO CHARGE! It's sooo easy these days to set up a website, and if no one buys, you're out what? 6 bucks for a year??? Go for it!
  9. ^^No. Thank YOU! You and some others here are such talents! You should seriously think about offering your work as lithos for Zep fans. Why not? Even through your MySpace (if you have one). Create a MySpace for your Zeppelin art, and put the link in your sig! Hell, it costs you a few bucks for a nice offset print litho print (excluding setup), and you sell it for 50. Your receipient is happy, and you make a few bucks. Hey, gas is expensive! Get it where you can! Me, I'm an artist myself. But I have chronic tendonitis so bad I can barely sign my name, much less render a sketch. But you! Get while the getting's good! Don't be shy about it! People like your work and WILL buy it! Trust me, it won't cost yo a thing to put it out there. There's no investment. No risk. So why not??? That goes for all of you amazingly talented bitches!!
  10. Kat and Miar, you both know I've always asmired your work. Chell and Sugarplum, absolutely beautiful! Peep, you fucking scare me!!!
  11. Bushmills on ice with a splash of water. Sweet, sippin Heaven!
  12. But I like Sammy! Especially his tequila! "Tomorrow will never come again" Great stuff!
  13. It's all in the paper! We really should let the folks have their thread back though, lol. We can start one in the Random forum if you like, assuming there's more to be said. If you do, I'll join in.
  14. Freehand is esentially the same as Adobe Illustrator, so I can do actual drawing and still publish if I need to. So between Freehand and Photoshop, I can pretty much get whatever I need done. I don't do much in the way of publishing, mostly poster-type art, so Quark isn't something I find a need for much. I'm more on the art end of the field. The reason I hated Quark in graphics school is because I wanted to get to the art part. I wanted to play in Photoshop, lol! That was 12 years ago, btw. Straight out of school, my first job was at Warner/Atlantic's merchandising division, where I ended up doing a lot of Looney Tunes tees, and tour shirts for artists. Everyone from Metallica to Jimmy Buffet. So yeah, didn't have much use for Quark. Powerful program though.
  15. Augh! I had to take 6 weeks of QuarkXpress in graphics school. I hated it! I do all my layouts and color seps from Macromedia Freehand now. Not a common way of doing it, but I find it much easier. Sorry for the off topic folks.
  16. I'm a graphic artist. I actually did that a few years ago for a similar thread on the old board.
  17. Maybe the kids, but my friends and I were well aware of Coverdale when he was actually in Deep Purple. And if any Led Zeppelin member has a reason to really take issue with Whitesnake, I'd say it would have to be Jimmy. Have you seen Adrian Vandenberg in Still of the Night pulling out a violin bow and playing along to the string section like it was on a guitar at all? What a blatant ripoff! But clearly Jimmy took that in stride. As for Robert, I was at a Whitesnake show in 1987. Some fans hung a banner of the balcony. It read "David Coverdale vs Robert Plant: Give it up Dave". And these people bought tickets to the show! I saw Coverdale look up with a smile and then saw the change of expression when he actually realised what the banner said. He was not amused in the least. But yeah, Coverdale wasn't any sort of Robert clone in the 70s. In the 80s the lines may have been blurred. Although I don't remember Robert wearing makeup and having his photos airbrushed! That said, up Glenn Hughes!!! What a voice that guy has! I remember the Cal Jam when DP opened for Sabbath. Coverdale was raspy, but Hughes sounded amazing! Burn fucking rocked!!! Hughes makes that song! I was fortunate enough to have a pint with him before he jumped onstage at a Badlands show. What a nice guy! I love the Coverdale Page album, I just wish I could take the vocals out at times. They can be unlistenably shrill. I like Coverdale when he's soulful. I hate it when he shrieks. It doesn't serve the song, IMO. It's hitting high notes for the sake of hitting high notes. That's what makes Robert so magnificent as a vocalist. He knows he's got it, but he does it for dramatic effect when the song is served by it. Coverdale never learned that discernment. It's like he just thinks "I'll sing high here". He needs to let that 80s mentality go (for all I know he has these days). Because on Coverdale Page it can be downright painful. Oh, and for anyone fancying the idea of Coverdale singing for "Zeppelin", I've heard Coverdale do Zeppelin songs. In a word, No. Please, no!
  18. Haha, okay! We’re Gonna Groove, I Can’t Quit You, Dazed and Confused, Heartbreaker, Living Loving Maid, White Summer / Black Mountain Side, Since I’ve Been Loving You, organ solo, Thank You, What Is and What Should Never Be, Moby Dick, How Many More Times, Whole Lotta Love. For example?
