Man, it's only been a couple of months and I feel like I'm a stranger in a strange land. Somebody hold me. Sam? IGG? Bilbo? Otto? All men. What's that about??

Wish I could afford a nice Hennessey or Courvoisier. Might have to settle for an E&J, lol! I gotta say it's been hard getting back on the board after a hiatus and seeing all this fighting! Who are these people? Make's me want to go back to my chair. Anyway, I've missed you and so many others. It's like there's this struggle for the old guard to deal with this influx of newbies who don't seem to want to be a part, but rather to define the place. They could learn so much if they'd just accept that there are people here who've been here forever, had all the discussions, and could quickly get them up to speed on any topic if they'd just be nice and open. Instead we're "elistist know-it-alls". Pity that eh?

    Awright! Who's drinkin'!!??
  5. The 666/Satan connection is utter crap. Page is a Thelemite, and regardless of what names Crowley went under, Thelema is not a Satanic discipline. The "Zoso" is an interpretation of his astrological signs. That "In The Light" link is well known to many of us and has been up for years. It's about half right. But like the symbols on his costumes, the symbol is purely astrological. One of the mandates of Thelema is that one choose a personal sigil for meditation. Capricorn, Mercury, Saturn, Cancer, etc. Ruling signs combined. The "dots" in the "o"s represent Saturn, its rings and out moons. Not Satan. Man this gets exhausting! Magick? Yes. Ritual? Yes. Astrology and the Tarot? Yes. Satan? Uh, no.

    A Deadhead in our midst?
  7. This is a ridiculous question. We're talking about two drummers a generation apart! It doesn't matter how good Jason is (and he's been fucking great every time I've seen him), his dad redefined rock drumming. The greatest rock drummer in history. To quote Mr. John Paul Jones: "So many people don't get get it. The subtleties. They just go boom bash, boom bash." Drumming has taken so many leaps and bounds over the last few decades. Now we have people recommending Dave Grohl to play with Zeppelin cause he has so many tattoos. I miss the old days when the best was plainly obvious. Karen Carpenter! Duh!

  10. Mandy??? Oh that won't do at all! We already have a Mandy! Can we call you Bruce, just to avoid confusion? Sorry, Monty Python joke there. Welcome aboard Mandy!!
  11. Yeah, we all pretty much looked like that in LA in the 80s!! Wow Mandy! A DL pic that's actually flattering! Lucky you!
  12. Sergeant: Squad! Eyes front! Stand at ease. Cat confusers ...shun! (From a following car a general alights.) General: Well men, we've got a pretty difficult cat to confuse today so let's get straight on with it. Jolly good. Thank you sergeant. Sergeant: Confusers attend to the van and fetch out... wait for it... fetch out the funny things. Move, move, move! One, two, one, two, get those funny things off. Mr A: What can we ever do to repay you? General: No need to, sir. It's all in a day's work for Confuse-a-Cat. 17. Went through this whole thread all ready to talk about Cynthia Fox only to find I'd been beaten to it! She's really cool in person. Here's a brief bio: A Southern California native, Cynthia grew up listening to Dr. Demento and Flo & Eddie on KMET. In college, she fell in love with radio at campus stations KUOR, and then KXLU. Through KXLU she began a college internship at KMET in 1977. She ran the tape-delay for the General Manager's talk show, taped and edited the weekend surf reports and later that year was assigned an overnight on-air shift. A few months later she was working overnights full-time and then in 1979 was promoted to middays. During her time at KMET she interviewed a variety of artists: Sting, Peter Gabriel, Tom Petty, the Edge of U2, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, the Who, Lou Reed, Don Henley, Jackson Browne, Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart, Heart, REM, John Densmore of the Doors and many others. She emceed the US Festival and had an onstage role in the historic Pink Floyd "The Wall" concerts at the Sports Arena. She hosted numerous concerts at the Forum, the Santa Monica Civic and the Long Beach Arena. After KMET's format change in 1987 she worked at a radio station that was eventually dubbed "The Edge", where she continued her in-depth interviews with Bryan Ferry, Danny Elfman, Brian Setzer and others. "The Edge" changed format and Cynthia co-hosted TBS's national video show "Nighttracks" for two years. She returned to radio at KLSX in 1993, and via the filmed version of "The Fish Report With a Beat" was featured on Roger Waters' Radio Waves tour, album and concert video. She began hosting pledge drive concert specials for public television station KCET, including The Eagles, Santana, the Beatles, the Who and Bonnie Raitt. She produced a unique KLSX-KCET event on the anniversary of Jim Morrison's 50th birthday-an interview with Ray Manzarek, John Densmore and Robbie Krieger in conjunction with concert footage from "The Doors: Live at the Hollywood Bowl." (and she even included Jim Ladd in the festivities!) Still miss KMET terribly.
