Can you list your top 10 LZ songs, in no particular order?

I chose these 10 songs based entirely on the studio versions and disregarding any preference I have for their live renditions.

1.  Since I’ve been loving you

2.  Black dog

3.  Stairway to heaven

4.  Heartbreaker

5.  Going to California

6.  Good Times bad Times

7.  Over the hills and far away

8.  I’m gonna crawl

9.  The rover

10. Houses of the holy

In my time of dying

Ten Years Gone

Achilles last stand

Night Flight

How many more times

Dazed and confused

Nobody's fault but mine

The lemon song

when the levee breaks

Trampled (live is so much better than studio, but still amazing song)

Sub out NFBM for The Rover and it's pretty close to what I'd go for. Trampled live - I hear ya! I'd be tempted to sub D&C for No Quarter too - and again go with live.

Of course, I could almost go 10 other songs altogether such is their depth.

In no particular order:

a) Kashmir -  the main riff captivated me as a little boy in the 70s (grown ups always had the radio on back then). I stopped whatever I was doing to listen. It sounded like the guitar was going one way, the drums the other. Like an invisible rubber band being pulled (the guitar pulling one end, the drums the other) and the tension created in that pull sucked my ears/brain right into the vortex. I've never heard anything like it before or since (and I have looked hard lol)

b) Down by the Seaside

c) When the Levee Breaks

d) Traveling Riverside Blues

e) Hey Hey What Can I Do

f) Tea for One

g) South Bound Suarez - the timing of that solo gets me every time. I always visualize Robert looking over at Jimmy as he ends the verse, and then Jimmy going into shred mode

h) Four Sticks

i) Battle of Evermore

j) Custard Pie - this sounds like Robert and Jimmy were listening to garage rock (Kingsmen, Sonics, etc) and thought "hey we can do that!". It has that feel to it.

Excuse my ignorance, I’m fairly new to Led Zeppelin (only started listening to them like a month ago, crazy I know🙈) but I’m going to just list my favorites so far. I don’t think I can make it 10 just yet.

stairway to heaven (yes very basic but it’s a beautiful song and popular for a reason)

kashmir

heartbreaker

whole lotta love

good times bad times

Dazed and confused

when the levee breaks

To list only ten is nigh impossible but I'll try anyway. Like Christopher Lees above, I'm going by studio version preference. In chronological order:

1. Dazed and Confused - THE Song that hooked me on the band in the first place.

2. Ramble On - Perfect representation of their light/heavy dynamic.

3. That's the Way - Sublimely gorgeous song.

4. Four Sticks - There is an otherworldly eeriness to this song that separated Led Zeppelin from the heavy blues rock horde.

5. When the Levee Breaks - Monumental groove. The soundtrack to the apocalypse.

6. The Rain Song - Challenge issued by George Harrison. Challenge accepted and handled with aplomb by the band. An evergreen classic.

7. The Rover - It's a crime this song was never given its proper due on any of the post-"Physical Graffiti" tours.

8. Kashmir - A cinematic masterpiece. The "Lawrence of Arabia" of rock.

9. Ten Years Gone - Achingly beautiful and heavy at the same time. Jimmy Page marshals his guitar army.

10. Achilles Last Stand - So many contenders for this last spot but rather than another track from "IV" or "Physical Graffiti" or "III", I had to include something from "Presence", my favourite 'in the wee hours' Led Zeppelin album.
