mindthegap
Both the 21st and 23rd were great nights. If you could compile a best of LA live cd - what versions of each song would you include? So far I've got: TSRTS - 21st Sick Again - 23rd NBFBM - 23rd No Quarter - 21st ALS - 23rd TYG - 23rd Over The Top - 23rd

chef free
Heard No Quarter from the 27th? Page and Bonham get some crazy breaks in at the end of Page's jam. I think it's better than the 21st or 23rd, as if each show's No Quarter built upon the previous performance.

That jam with Jimmy on the 23rd is mindblowing. Wow! NoQuarter from Cleveland on April 27th is quite good with Nutrocker and a bit of a blues solo that follows. Great stuff. The 23rd blows away ANY other version of No Quarter. Period. BUT- the 21st is a super performance as well, just a bit sloppier. The 27th is good too, but it's a bit monotonous in comparison. Not that it doesn't kick ass, just sayin'...
badgeholder
Dancing Days (accoustic) from the 27th is very cool also. Don't forget the 25th, even the 26th has some good stuff. Like 'It'll Be Me'. What a stint this was, huh? Epic.
Walter
Communication Breakdown on the 25th smokes as well.
mindthegap
If you're going to compile a list like this, you should not only finish it, but put the songs in order. Sorry SuperDave. I was listing those that I liked for sure. Hoping for suggestions on the others and/or better versions than I listed. I guess I wrongly assumed that those who could make a suggestion know the setlists and song orders, but for the sake of redundancy and accuracy... The setlists in order were: 1977.06.21 Inglewood, California - The Forum 1. The Song Remains The Same 2. The Rover (intro) / Sick Again 3. Nobody's Fault But Mine 4. Over The Hills And Far Away 5. Since I've Been Loving You 6. No Quarter 7. Ten Years Gone 8. The Battle Of Evermore 9. Going To California 10. Black Country Woman / Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp 11. White Summer / Black Mountain Side 12. EzyEric
umm I think he meant like. 1. The Song Remains the Same (06-21-77) 2. Sick Again (06-23-77) 3. No Bodys Fault but Mine (06-21-77) .... ........
SuperDave
Mindthegap, You have the 26th listed twice. A little goof. The first batch for the 26th is actually the 25th as it includes the rare Communication Breakdown on this tour. Now choose from these and make your best of L.A. in '77. My guess is that selections from the 21st and 23rd will make up the overwhelming majority of it. Nutrocker
A few years back, I actually made an LA '77 set for a friend of mine; I compiled all the songs together, and, using my Sound Forge program fused it all together to form a coherent performance (I seem to recall editing some of the long pauses between songs, leaving all the Plantations intact.) It went something like this: The Song Remains The Same (June 21) The Rover>Sick Again (June 21) Nobody's Fault But Mine (June 21) Over The Hills And Far Away (June 21) In My Time Of Dying (June 25) Since I've Been Loving You (June 25) No Quarter (June 23) Ten Years Gone (June 23) Battle Of Evermore (June 27) Going To California (June 27) Black Country Woman (June 27) Bron Yr Aur Stomp>Dancing Days (June 27) White Summer/Black Mountain Side (June 25) Kashmir (June 25) Trampled Under Foot (June 25) Out On The Tiles/Moby Dick (June 23) Heartbreaker (June 21) Noise Solo (June 27- edited) Achilles Last Stand (June 23) Stairway To Heaven (June 23) Whole Lotta Love (June 23) Rock And Roll (June 23) My friend was (and still is) a big Who fan, so I couldn't not use the drum solo and encores from the 23rd, when Keith Moon sat in. I used the acoustic set from the 27th mainly for the addition of "Dancing Days". And, considering the Noise Solo on the 27th is twenty six minutes long -and having said that it is probably the most interesting, for wont of a better term, version- I kept the 'best' bits and cut out the chaff (got it down to thirteen minutes or something like that.) And I had to put in both IMTOD and OTHAFA...needless to say, the thing was four discs...
