  1. ""Whole Lotta Love," which opens the album, has to be the heaviest thing I've run across (or, more accurately, that's run across me) since "Parchmant Farm" on Vincebus Eruptum." Well, that says a lot doesn't it lol.
  2. Pink Floyd: "Atom Heart Mother"......complete with little kid in the background...............
  3. I read somewhere that most of the outtakes are going the similar route like Exile, unfinished masters or demos that Mick wrote and sang new vocals for. The tune Jahfin posted sounded pretty good to me....... http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/the-rolling-stones-some-girls-super-deluxe-edition-live-in-texas-blu-ray/
  4. There is a bonus tune on the LP not found on either version of the CD release. "Sometimes It Happens" is the name of the tune. It's not a throwaway either, believe me.
  5. The deluxe 3CD and DVD set of Miles Davis Quintent Live In Europe........
  6. "Catchy name for REM greatest hits record" It is, but I think just about any great rock band with a deep catalogue of albums can make the same claim........if they were honest enough to that is.
  7. I always liked this cover. The Troggs were one of those great 60's bands. I just dated myself again didn't I. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k3mG6CBE9I&feature=related
  8. Way way WAY back in the day.................. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTDRd0Z0O4o&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DivGUhX-5Y&feature=related
  9. They should have pissed on it, not defaced it with grafitti...........but.............
  10. Well that sounds terrific, thanks for the mini-review. I really like the new Wilco album, my son surprised me with the CD the other day. Sounds like it was a terrific show all around.
  11. On their current tour they're playing entire classic albums and other assorted favorites. They played all of Aja at the Beacon Theater in NYC on September 19th. They'll also be playing The Royal Scam in full during this NYC run as well.
  12. My cable company put The Walking Dead season one on their free on demand channel this week and I ended up watching the entire thing. Zombies aside, what a great show this is. Now I'm counting down the days before the new season starts in October.
  13. I loved the album when it was first released. It looks forward but also back a bit at the same time. I wish they had done more stuff like this. Blue Train and Most High are classics.
  14. "New Adventures in Hi-Fi" was probabaly the last REM album I really loved. The one after that "Up" pretty much lost me. After that it was hit or miss and they just sort of got put in the back burner for me. I guess that's how it goes sometimes. I do find it funny to read that "Life's Rich Pageant" was considered a sell out to some people. Heaven forbid having a mainstream studio drum sound. I guess people like what they like, or don't. Personally speaking, every one of those IRS label 1980's LP's they did were drop dead classics. I bought each as they were issued and played them all to death. REM was one of the few bands in the 1980's that played and recorded true rock and roll..........even though it was labelled as something else at the time. Great band and like I said before I'm sad to see it end for them.
  15. To be honest I sort of lost track of REM during the 2000's but it's sad to read about this. I can't believe it's been that long for them as a band actually. Nice article.
  16. The 40th Anniversary Ya's Ya's on vinyl did Taylor justice. the entire album did actually. It sounds better than the same box set on CD, go figure. BB King's opening set was almost worth the price alone.
  17. I wish Zeppelin fans who endlessly scream for a reunion take these words into consideration.
  18. As much as I loved Mick Taylor with them, I agree about Brian Jones. Listening to those mid 60's albums you really get the sense that creatively they were as good as anybody. Jones was personally responsible for a lot of that, but never received any song writing credits. Maybe being marginalized like that didn't help his drug habit very much either. As much as I've loved the Stones for decades now, I don't like how Mick and Keith conduct their business. Mick Taylor experienced similar during his stay and he left too.
  19. Well you can make up anything on the fly I guess. White Americans such as myself who actually grew up in the 60's found out about "our" blues roots via English rock musicians, so you can throw that argument out the window. Really now, ripping off an entire song melody, adding a middle bridge and claiming it as your own? Seriously? That hasn't got anything to do with national pride, that's just blatant theft.
  20. Bill Wyman looked embalmed in this....................... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUnPO9qmRuk&feature=related
  21. Robert Johnson died young and under somewhat mysterious circumstances. He was then adopted as the spiritual and musical leader by the 60's British Blues guys. Legends either deserved or not always get the most publicity. There are a ton of Delta Blues legends though, Son House being one of the best of them all. Mississippi John Hurt is another, so is Bukka White..........
