  1. People today need the same kind of Shelter that she needed back then. Great vid.
  2. If you're going to cover something, it ought to be done like this..............
  3. Popular music trends. Zep and Queen existing without other bands coming before them is opinion, one which I don't agree with.
  4. Well by my math the Stones were banging away at pop music trends long before Zeppelin or Queen ever formed as working bands. They paved the road don't you think? Other bands did too, but as this is a Stones thread we'll keep the focus on the Rolling Stones here.
  5. Bobby Keys made the most sense about their "centralizing" shows, letting the people come to them to see gigs. I would think that would be the best way for them to tour now, if they ever do again. I also hope Bill Wyman rejoins them for this last go around if it happens too.
  6. For what it's worth I bought the Some Girls Deluxe edition today and the second disc of outtakes is very very good. I have no idea what was recently finished or was a legitimate outtake but the tunes are really good. Ron Wood plays pedal steel on many of them and there's a serious twang factor in most of them. They didn't destroy the original album with noise wars remastering either. I'm very pleased with this.
  7. A 40th special anniversary release of LA Woman? That must be the 12th edition of it issued on CD for one reason or another. They'll keep finding "lost" Doors tracks forever I think.
  8. This video really is quite good. Nice.
  9. Apparently Townshend is going the Rolling Stones route for re-issuing old stuff. Who web boards are all saying the Quadrophenia demos which are part of the soon to be released box set have modern drum tracks mixed in to the original demos that didn't originally contain any drums. That's hard to believe he'd do that but apparently this is the case. Also, the original album is not fully presented in a 5.1 dolby surround mix, just selected tracks. PT is going to offer the entire album at some point in the future in 5.1.............online. Epic epic fail.
  10. You won't get unreleased quality bootleg (true bootleg) material until either Keith or Mick pass on. Besides, didn't you like the Exile issue when it first came out? I thought you posted here that you did? Maybe not, either way though there is a ton of Stones boots out there, a lot of it really really good. All is not lost.
  11. Jahfin, your NPR link was mixed up with the Amazon image link I believe. http://www.npr.org/2011/11/06/141792537/first-listen-r-e-m-part-lies-part-heart-part-truth-part-garbage-1982-2011
  12. Cowboy Junkies covering Springsteen........... Cowboy Junkies covering Lou Reed........
  13. This is part of the Who's Next deluxe release..........listen at around 1:40 or so when PT's guitar shorts out and it's just Moon and Entwistle playing off of eachother.........this was The Who kids.....
  14. The deluxe release will be like my personal passing an auto wreck on the highway thing.........I don't want to look or care but I can't help myself............
  15. On 200 gram vinly...........there's not much better than this LP........
  16. I'm not sure what PT said wrong about ITunes actually. What gives Apple the right to take 30%? What did Apple ever do to help create any of this music which they offer for download? Not a damned thing. Sorry, I don't mean to hijack the thread.......back to the endless praise then.
  17. Kaiser; Thanks for the Clash video posts. Thanks especially for the "Fridays" set. I remember that very well and I wasn't 8 years old either, trust me there
  18. It's..........it's.........it's...............snowing
  19. The Faces were never "Rod's band"..............happy memories here.
  20. Part of the joy of listening to Heartbreaker for all these years is the fact that I always thought this solo was a one off plug in and let it rip type of thing. If this solo actually was compiled from 10 reels of takes.......and it ended up sounding like this...........after ten reels of splicing various takes............... Man it would be time to re-evaluate then.
  21. Oh man, this is just classic here. The Dead and Hef!!!!!!! Groovy
  22. The solo to me at least always sounded like he just plugged in and let it rip. I doubt there is 10 reels worth of guitar parts used here. It doesn't sound that way at all.
  23. Jimi Hendrix: "Hendrix In The West" I'm very happy they re-released this, completists screaming aside..........
