  1. In addition to news about a possible new album with Crazy Horse, Neil continues to expound on what he sees as the poor quality of music today. Not the lack of good new music but the sound quality of the medium itself. Neil Young Angered By 'Sound Of Music Today' 'We're in the 21st century and we have the worst sound that we've ever had,' Young tells MTV News at Sundance Film Festival.
  2. I'm guessing quite a few members of the forum are too young to remember The Gong Show but it was just as fucked up and strange as you've heard it was. I'd also take it any day over utter crap like American Idle. With that, I give you The Band From Far Away...
  3. Epic Guitar Swing Fail (not the name of the band):
  4. Sort of a cover. Steve Wynn and the Miracle 3 with Elliot Easton on bass doing The Cars' "Candy-O":
  5. I'm not sure of the details of what happened but whatever it was, there was obviously some very bad blood. Gregg has said in recent years that he hopes to wind the Allman Brother Band down by doing less and less shows. If they're ever going to bring him back into the fold, now is the time.
  6. Thanks. I'll have to dig them up. The innerwebz can be a bit of a cumbersome beast at times. Sometimes what you're looking for is there, it just takes the right keywords to find it.
  7. There were apparently some clips from this concert on YouTube but they were removed, most likely because they're the property of Wolfgang's Vault. I'd love to see the entire concert sometime. Hard to believe this was part of a series that aired on educational channels back in the day. Now, for something completely different. Some ABB related news I thought I'd never see. It'll be interesting to see if Dickey actually performs with them. Dickey Betts Will Tour in 2012, Accept Grammy with The Allman Brothers Band
  8. Looks like Street Survivors is getting Mobile Fidelity treatment, more here.
  9. Vintage clip of the Allmans doing "Whipping Post" from an old television special called Welcome To the Fillmore East that originally aired in 1970 (courtesy of Paste magazine).

  12. This is the third of the four Grateful Dead shows I saw between 1989 and 1995 and one of my very favorites of the four. There were lots of highlights on this evening but two of them were covers, their sublime version of Dylan's "Stuck Inside of Mobile With the Memphis Blues Again" and the Beatles' "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds", which came completely out of left field. The latter still sends shivers up and down my spine, just as it did on the night they played it. 14. I'm not a huge fan of all of the merchandising but if memory serves from reading the Bill Graham book (Bill Graham Presents), the Grateful Dead were among the first to start selling their own shirts so it's not like they're strangers to it.
  15. Business Is Booming for the Grateful Dead
  16. When will the soundtrack to Lucifer Rising be released?
  17. Collapse Into Now is definitely their last album. R.E.M. announced that they were disbanding on September 21st, 2011. That's not to say there won't be any vault releases or a box set. Hopefully, there will. Document is also going to be re-released this year on the occasion of it's 25th anniversary. That will mark the end of the I.R.S. era deluxe reissues.
  18. The entire album is pretty damn good as well.
