  1. Dale Jr wins the first Duel....#2 about to begin on FS1.
  2. Tonight is the Duels at Daytona, starting at 7 eastern. Two 150 mile races, with half of the starting field for the 500 in one race and the other half in the second race. Only the front row starting positions have been set thus far. The remaining starting positions will be determined by tonight's results. Today is also the 15 year anniversary of the death of Dale Earnhardt. He died in the last turn of the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500 as his son and his best friend, both driving cars owned by him, we're just ahead of him on their way to first and second place finishes. Horrible, sad, day to say the least. RIP Dale.
  3. Yes, Glenn Frey said Jackson wrote 98% of that song. Which is obviously the reason he was chosen to sing it - "Heartache Tonight" would've been another good choice, with Bob Seger, who co-wrote that with Glenn as well.
  4. "Responsibility is a heavy responsibility." - Cheech Marin
  5. A few of my impressions from last night: Gaga's tribute was good, it's almost impossible to do a Bowie tribute - but she made a good attempt with so many different songs/styles. She could've easily brought the house down with just doing "Heroes" with many images behind her, but she spread it out with style. The Eagles were alright, don't know what I was expecting, but it seemed like it was short of what they could've done for him. I can't believe Duff and Matt were there to do a Lemmy tribute, but couldn't show any sort of tribute for Scott Weiland, their singer in Velvet Revolver. Not saying performing a song in memory - just at least a megaphone on the amp or drum riser. The rap, etc has taken over this show, which is a shame, and is why I rarely ever watch it anymore.
  6. She didn't show it on the Red Carpet....she was wearing some red Bowie hair, but not on that carpet either I suppose! ? "Pimp and a Butterfly", interesting name for an album... He will be the big winner tonight, me thinks.
  7. Johnny Depp and Joe Perry are also part of the Lemmy tribute - Ace of Spades is the song choice and they are also doing an original song.
  8. I hadn't heard that. Thanks Dd! Looking forward to what she has cooked up for the performance.
  9. It is tonight and I agree that the Grammy's usually aren't all that. But, I will tape tonight's show so I can fast forward through the undesirable parts.
  10. Just saw this....he was a great guy/poster here. Always quick witted! RIP Charles!
  11. Awesome job zepscoda! That must be tough! The only time I drink soda (coca-cola) is when I do shots of Kraken. Which this time of the year is more often. I only drink maybe half a can, but with the dark rum shots it's still probably too much! With my coffee I have switched to "So" brand creamer, which is non-dairy coconut creamer. I get the hazelnut flavor and don't have to put any sweetener in it. Plus I don't get the phlegm and bad cholesterol that dairy creamer has - and it tastes great! Congrats on 13 days!
  12. We are doing our traditional Valentines Day treat - family pedicures and then going to our favorite pizza place after. Heaven!
  13. 20-year-old Chase Elliott has won the pole for next week's Daytona 500. He is the son of Hall of Fame member Bill Elliott and he is driving the legendary 24, which was Jeff Gordon's ride the past 23 seasons. Starting spots 3-40 will be determined after Thursday night's "Duels at Daytona" 150 mile races.
  14. Those starting positions were determined by random draw.

    Rush

It's cool the watch their videos, kiwi, but to 'feel' them live is multi-sensory. I assume it is similar to what Strider describes Zeppelin to have been. The pounding of the instruments going through you is something else. They make so much music for 3 guys on stage.
  17. Alligator isn't that uncommon, kiwi. Down here you can find it many places. Pigs brain, on the other hand, is something I don't see me coming into contact - ever. Had some of Mrs. Walter's homemade banana bread earlier, with coffee - too good!
  18. I'm sorry for your loss. RIP Styrbjorn

    Rush

^ So glad you've "found" Rush, kiwi! I had always liked them around Moving Pictures, Signals era - as a pre-teen. Then I fell out a bit with the synth era mid 80's Rush. Mrs Walter and I saw them on the Presto tour, when we first started dating, for our first concert together and also each of our first time seeing Rush live. We both fell in love with them. They tour very consistently the next two tours and we saw them two days after we were married and then again two years later on our anniversary. Those were the Roll The Bones and Counterparts tours - Counterparts might be my favorite album of theirs. Then we saw them again on the Test for Echos tour, which wasn't as good, IMO. Kinda fell out when Neal went to find himself, then started our own family and never really thought about it, until.... My son's school had an online auction for their arts program. They had two suite tickets donated for Rush on their Clockeork Angels tour. We threw in a bid and there we were. Amazing show, just like the early 90's! They are timeless! If you ever wanted to do a road trip you should, for them. Xanadu is probably my favorite, live. I wish they would play the entire 2112. Geddy's bass in "Freewill" will pound through your chest - love it! I don't know why they always seem to play "Force Ten" every time I see them, I really don't care for it - "Time Stand Still" from that disc is so much better. Anyway, glad you're into them - love your enthusiasm! ✌?️
