  1. ^^ these here guys built their sound around the post-punk aesthetic from late 70s/early 80s, but I'll be DAMNED if I don't hear some Zep influence in there ..
  2. Another KILLER band called Women. They were from Calgary and played shows same time as Fucked Up (last post). They made 2 albums then disappeared, shame:
  3. Used to listen to this band endlessly. They are worth a damn, to say the least:
  4. This lady's voice is the soundtrack to my early childhood.
  5. Thanks very much for doing these. I've read all of them, and as a non-musician find them interesting and hugely entertaining. Would love to hear you nitpick any or all of the following: 2/3, 2/4 and 2/7 (if you're so inclined).
  6. Didn't give this one much attention previously, just a quick listen - due to it being incomplete and the atrocious sound quality. But I've been listening to it throughout the day today and damn if it doesn't sound fantastic. His playing on OTHAFA from this night sounds great too. Makes me wonder if that "fluidity run" Pagey had 2/6 - 2/8 didn't start a little earlier with this show. I haven't listened closely to many of the early 75 shows beyond NQ. Now I'm thinking maybe I should give 2/1 (Pittsburgh) and 2/3 (MSG) a closer listen.
  7. "Hats off to Charmin"? I'm here all night, folks. And yes ... NEVER order the bluefish in NY ... (immediately starts googling)
  8. Indeed it does! Apparently, he had psychological/emotional issues as many actors do) which prevented him from breaking through as a top tier film lead. I'm glad he kept going though. Have you seen "A Deadly Affair" from 1967? He plays George Smiley from the Tinker Tailor books. He was born to play that role, just like he was born to play Hubert Humphrey.
  9. I've heard this one before (as I'm sure you have too). I just FFed to OTHAFA and NQ. They do sound good on those, even tho Robert lets out a big ol croak at the end of OTH 🐸 Jimmy is sounding good, I agree. I love how he's sounding on NQ. It will be interesting to see how this would sound if it was better recorded. Recording across the street from the bathroom ... that dude needed to step up his game. Maybe he had stomach issues that night? 😛 Boot title: :"Sick Again?" "Nobody's Stall But Mine?" "Number Two Years Gone?"
  10. High of 63 degrees and light rain. My favorite weather and fav time of year.
  11. YES ^^. When I was a little kid, I loved the scatting at the end of this 😂
  12. "It's true I hire my body out for pay ... hey, hey!!"
  13. Well, Miami is now 1-7. The only reason it wasn't a humiliation like the earlier Bills-Dolphins game was the defense showed up. I think Howard being back was a big part of that. But yeah ... I'm of the opinion if Tua doesn't really step up for the remainder of the season they should dump him. And I know most Fins fans think Flores is in over his head, Props to Cole Beasley, that dude is tough as nails. 5'8, 174 lbs, and just showing up like a MF every play.
  14. Yeah, I couldn't agree more. I personally am really glad he distanced himself from Zep when he started out. I think as an artist/entertainer it was the right thing to do and I also think we the fans are richer for it. Principle of Moments is a fantastic 80s soundscape/platform (in the same way that Sinatra's Wee Small Hours is the perfect soundscape for him) for his voice. I've always loved the delivery and vibe on that one. But yeah, it would be interesting to see how his career and sound would have progressed if he didn't distance himself. Maybe he would have partnered with Joe Satriani? 😛 He def is head and shoulders above other pop vocalists with all the different approaches he's taken 💯 I know I mentioned this on another post, but I've always felt like Plant was the natural successor to Elvis, who himself was the natural successor to Sinatra. But of the 3, Plant is the only one who really carved out a hugely diverse career.
  15. Another one that always puts a smile on my face - the original 1963 "One Way Out" by Sonny Boy Williamson (with Buddy Guy on guitar!). There is so much humor and joy in the singing and harmonica playing, I don't think you could really call this the blues. Just the opposite.
  16. We also watched the original Amityville Horror the same night, and I'm convinced the black dog in that movie ("Harry the dog") is the same one from Salem's Lot, which was filmed in the same era (78-79). I hunted around for an image for the dog from Salem's Lot, but couldn't find one. This is him from Amityville. Take a bow, Harry.
  17. In keeping with Halloween festivities, watched Salem's Lot last weekend - introduced it to my girlfriend. Yes, it's bad, but I'm a huge James Mason fan and he's great in this. Like all the best actors, he just kept getting better with age.
  18. Also love Jim Jarmusch, and this is my fav of all his films. Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston - perfect pairing
  19. These are really cool, thank you. I also like the before the show pics.
