  1. Thanks. Last night was incredible. It was better than I thought it would be. I tried to downplay but by mid-day yesterday, I was getting into concert mode. ok, now for the Chastain Ampitheatre (Atlanta) concert details. Sharon Little opened and only played for about 30 minutes (22 minutes exactly). She performed about 5 songs and was a powerful singer. She was friendly, bluesy and belted out a few originals from her first cd. From my understanding, she was working waiting tables in Philly, was spotted at a club, signed earlier this year to CBS/Sony, recorded her debut cd with her producer/ guitarist (from last night) and Robert Plant/ Alison Krauss hand-picked her to open for them on their North American tour this summer. Robert and Alison arrived on stage after the band, decked out in suits, began the opening song. Robert was wearing a navy buttoned down short sleeve shirt that wasn't tucked in, light brown leather pants and light suede boots. Alison was wearing a simple but elegant dress (looking like she was ready for church on a Sunday morning). Robert and Alison were simply amazing. Alison's voice was so pure and angelic (but also very powerful when needed). She never oversang. She always sang from her heart and what was best for the purpose of serving the song (as Plant). Plant sang background to Alison on a few numbers as well as contributed to three part harmony on another number. Robert and Alison (especially) loosened up mid set and they had a fun evening performing. Robert shared a few short thoughts througout the evening. He quoted James Brown about Atlanta and feeling good, he made mention of it being such a priviledge of being in the US where the blues began and especially in the south learning more about our culture and rich history. Alison was very humble and gracious to the wonderful response the crowd gave her (after every song, just about everyone in the sell out crowd came to their feet in standing ovations). The weather held up beautifully (raining before the concert and stopping just in time beforehand). Everyone went home feeling a little closer to connecting to the spirit of music, so I believe Robert and Alison achieved their goal of transmitting (as Robert called it) their message of music. Well done. They performed from 9pm until 11pm (as this outdoor venue in surrounded by an upscale neighborhood and connected golfcouse/countryclub atmosphere (and there is a noise ordinance/curfew, which was the only limiting factor of the evening). From my understanding in a few conversations with other Krauss & Plant fans in attendance, there will be a DVD of one of their recent shows to be released later this year and (perhaps) another studio effort next year. I spoke with the promoter of the concert briefly afterwards and there were no aftershow passes given out (only event staff given access backstage) last night. Also, noticable for Chastain last night, there was an Increased level of security for this show as they were contracted by Plant's management. There were four security guards behind metal railing between the front row and the stage. Set List --- 7/10/08: Rich Woman --- Plant & Krauss appeared on stage after the band began the intro to the song Leave My Woman Alone Black Dog --- same arrangement to CMT tv special performance in Feb. '08 Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us Through The Morning Through The Night Fortune Teller (ethereal vibe on this one with Alison's vocals really shing through) In The Mood (wonderful new arrangement --- Plant doing a country hoe-down stance & having fun) Black Country Woman --- low key at beginning and then drums with full band coming in Shut It Tight Bon Temps Roule (T-Bone Burnett sang with band --- Plant & Krauss not on stage) Trampled Rose --- similar arrangement to the cd Green Pastures --- Alison sang really beautifully in this one Down To The River and Pray (Alison solo --- amazing vocals) Killing The Blues --- very dynamic effort by the band (harsh drums & violins at times then softening) Nothin' The Battle of Evermore (amazing vocals by both Plant & Krauss) Please Read The Letter --- same arrangement as the cd (great performance) Gone Gone Gone --- fun vibe and crowd throwing beach ball up on stage (Plant & Krauss both threw it back into crowd) / shiny silverish/tinsel backdrop revealed for this song throughout the end of the night You Don't Knock --- Plant singing powerfully on this one One Woman Man Encores: Goodbye So Long (low key number) (Little Richard cover) --- don't remember the name R
  2. They got "Little Ricky's" endorsement (from the Lucy Show). Looks like quality work. I might check them out (since they are east of Atlanta). R
  3. Plant & Krauss' CD (getting ready for the concert tonight in Atlanta ---2nd row)
  4. I agree with y'all. it's Robert's site (and he focused on his solo work). He has his site, JPJ has his site (and he can do what he wants, too). That's why we have a LED ZEPPELIN site (for their work, reunion shows, etc...). I'm looking forward to seeing him and Alison tonight here in Atlanta. I'll send my report and set list tomorrow morning (8AM Eastern Standard US time). R
  5. While I LOVE Led Zeppelin, I'll have to pass on this one. I wasn't too impressed with the editing job they did on this one. Forum members (from reading) had put together better edits on their own and made a better (more complete ) version. Enjoy the artwork and packing and all. I'm sure it will LOOK incredible. It would just be a dust collector for me (if I got it). R
  6. Looking forward to the concert tonight here in Atlanta. I'll send an email update with the set list, highlights and all in the morning. I've got 2nd row tickets in front of Robert and getting excited about the show. Hope the rain stays away or comes through early (cools things off here) and the weather is clear for the concert at 8pm tonight. R

    Bonham Vs Bonham

    Thanks for sharing, MissHD. R
  10. Plant & Krauss this Thursday in Atlanta (2nd row). R
  11. Yes, the Page/Crowes concerts were fun, but let's hope there's more Jason, Jimmy, JPJ & Robert one-offs sometime soon. We'll just have to wait and see. It's totally up to them. R
  12. Her name was Carolyn Helman or Heldman... She was quite the looker (but didn't get much on air time). I had a few friends that worked for MTV back in it's original days (when they were actually a cool/alternative station and played "music"). Nowadays, it's a complete joke (and most of their sister stations for that fact, too). VH1 plays the same stuff, too. VH1 Classic plays some videos and concerts (so, it's the last of it's kind). She was among the first new VJs hired around 1987 with Adam Curray (poser/original Headbangers ball host) and Julie Brown (english one not the Red Head comedienne) (after the first 5 who started in August, 1981: Mark Goodman, Nina Blackwood, JJ Jackson, Alan Hunter and Martha Quinn). Yo

    Welcome, Summer. R
  14. Thanks, MissHD!!! Yes!!! the Song Does Remain the Same (Jason playing his dad's stuff). Crossing my fingers for another 10 or 20 one-offs. R
  15. It would make more sense for them to release the Ahmet Tribute : O2 Arena Show on Blue-Ray, DVD and/or DVD-Audio (double disc special editions) next, before releasing any previous Zeppelin material (like Earls Court, Knebworth, etc...) on cd or dvd/blue-ray (my opinion) if they were to do some more one-offs later this year/next year. It shows their new visuals/stage show, Jason performing on drums, as well as the proceeds/profits from sales doing more now to benefit those in need for their special tribute/performance (the Ahmet fund). Hopefully, the rehearsals (non-performed songs: Candy Store Rock, etc...) will be included as well as interviews by all four talking about Ahmet, his life, and this momentus event... R
  16. From my understanding, Thompson had already rehearsed and sat in previous sessions with the others. (Collins had not and was out on tour with Plant). So, Plant invited Collins (vouched for him) and he was brought in at the last minute. I would have been pretty angry too, if I were Thompson (also a serious world class drummer: previously playing with Chic and The Power Station as well as session work), who had rehearsed previously with Page and JPJ (to have another drummer brought in at the last minute). Collins was watching Thompson the whole time and missing breaks and just accenting cymbals where he thought they were needed. Collins is a world class drummer (probably one of the best in the world, which really makes me shake my head to wonder why he didn't have his stuff together for this BIG event in music history = The First time the surviving members of the greatest hard rock band of all time get together for charity and you are the drummer (to not have your stuff together). It wasn't the pa/monitors, latency... He just wasn't rehearsed/prepared for the gig and it showed... Was he just there for the publicity stunt of trying to be in the record books for playing on a Concorde from the UK to the USA for Live Aid??? Was it just his ego got in the way??? R
  17. My apologies for placing this in the wrong thread. Yes, please move this one to the appropriate thread/ section. R
  18. Please be patient... Page, JPJ and Jason, we all know want to play and have been together either recording new material, playing a few songs together and/or receiving awards recently. Plant is out with Alison on tour (for now, keeping his voice going) and exploring new directions with his creative juices. Who knows??? Maybe, Plant is writing new material (and Page and others are sending him the music regularly)... Let's just all wait and see what happens in September. It's either going to be Page with Jones and Jason (and possibly with Plant). Either way, it's going to be incredible. R
  19. Just a Suggestion: Once something official is in writing, Someone (a Moderator) from LZ.com send all Led Zeppelin.com forum members an email to offer a unique passcode (that works one time only) an opportunity to be able to get first notice on pre-sale tickets if/when JP, JPJ, Jason and whoever else joins them (Plant, etc...) for any REAL/CONFIRMED/ACTUAL future live dates they do. R
  20. You're very welcome. Thanks. Y'all are great!!! Happy, too, that Jason was mentioned by both of them. Just really glad that Page and JPJ were there and there's actually a magazine that let's the fans voice what/who we already know to be the very best live act/band of last year (hands down)... We also know, that when the O2 show is officially released on DVD and cd/dvd-audio, that it will win all kinds of other awards, too!!! R
  21. my brain was already melted before listening to Zeppelin. The first song that I heard from them was "Whole Lotta Love". It was and is incredible. R
  22. from the Mojo interview... here's Page & Jones actually receiving the 2008 Mojo Award for best live act (by the magazine's readers) and their speech: R
  23. Re: Live Aid... Collins went in unrehearsed and missed the breaks. He thought he could just go in and do it. He was wrong. They would have been just fine with Tony Thompson, who was already there on drums. Collins just disrupted the whole thing (IMHO). Additionally, Page's guitar was out of tune. Plant and Jones did well, I thought. R
  24. Can't wait to see them. My dog's former owner's butcher's sister's brother's cousin-in-law twice removed heard from another guy that it's taking place there, too, so I'm booking my flight now to get a jump on travel rates for next May. Cheers. R
