  1. But back to the topic: This album sounds great! It's literally a revelation! So much more music has been reveled. I can't believe how bad the original mastering was! All the guitar tracks are now distinct. Best remaster of the batch, If you somehow have any doubt about buying these new remasters, FORGET IT! GET THEM NOW! You will not regret it!
  2. Agreed! If you are listening to some poor quality bootleg feel free to reach for the equalizer, but when you are playing the newest remasters from someone as picky as JP, in 24/96 no less, the equalizer will just add distortion, noise, and weird phase issues. (However my McIntosh pre amp does have a nice five band EQ, which is out of the circuit when set flat, it's a savior for some boots!)
  3. Great "Goodbye" show tonight at the Mountain Jam in upstate New York! I hope you watched it. They played all of the first two albums over 2 1/2 hours! Idlewild South Revival Don't Keep Me Wonderin' Midnight Rider In Memory of Elizabeth Reed Hoochie Coochie Man (Muddy Waters cover) Please Call Home (with Peter Levin) Leave My Blues at Home The Allman Brothers Band Don't Want You No More (The Spencer Davis Group cover) It's Not My Cross to Bear Black Hearted Woman Trouble No More (Muddy Waters cover) Dreams Whipping Post Encore Statesboro Blues (Blind Willie McTell cover) (with Peter Levin)
  4. The Brothers have announced the LAST SHOWS! Yep, after 45 years the Band is retiring. It's been a great run, I've been seeing them live since '79, I'm really going to miss that band.
  5. Berkeley 1971. This is a GREAT show! I had forgotten that it's a pretty good recording too. If you haven't heard it in a while...
  6. 1970/09/19 is not such a bad recording, just a little "distant". Maybe a bit of effort to put on your bootleg ears but the payback is well worth it! It has one of the best setlists of the Fall '70 tour. I'm listening to Berkeley 1970/09/02 right now! Maybe my favorite from 1970. Edited to say "Oops! I meant Oakland 1970/09/02"
  7. Agreed! 6/22 and 6/26 are the important LA shows to release, we've already heard the rest in Millard quality.
  8. I like the one from Earl's Court 5/25/75 and the one from Berlin '80
  9. Dazed and Confused, Texas Pop Fest. August '69. Page and Bonham!
  10. But cool and exciting to expirence live!
  11. New Years Day dinner was delicious sushi. Any Uni (sea urchin) fans out there?
  12. How about the one from December 6th of 1969? Or the one from October 10th of the same year? Those are my favorites and both are well worth the trouble of seeking out!
  13. No Quarter - Celebration Day DVD Jones is wearing the same boots he wore in The Song Remains the Same movie!
  14. Bath '70. Best show of 1970? Too bad about the recording, I just turn the 1000 hz down and crank the bass.
  15. Feb. 12th 1975 "Four Blocks in the Snow" Blue Congo matrix. Page is going out HARD! I had to turn it off after a few songs though, I just couldn't get into it. Maybe I'm coming down with a cold or something but I just didn't hear the "unit". It was like Jimmy was jamming for himself and the rhythm section was not into that. Maybe JPJ and Bonzo couldn't keep up? That seems unlikely. Maybe Jimmy was smacked out and in his own little world! Ah well, '75 has always been my least favorite tour.
  16. Mostly I.P.A. and bourbon for me! But for hot California summer days I love tequila with white grapefruit juice and a dash of Triple sec. Anyone tried a Negroni? One shot each of: gin, sweet vermouth and Campari.
  17. When I saw Zeppelin, they were way late and the crowd was getting UGLY!
  18. As soon as I'm home from work: September 4th 1970, 43 anniversary!
  19. I've been enjoying the '80 tour versions. I like the short, tight arrangement. Frankfurt is "special".
  20. Truly a great drummer, he and Moon really made it possible for the drummer to be a star. But, jeez, what a kook! He basically destroyed every band he was ever in. I heard that he and Jack Bruce (another great player with a reputation for being very hard to get along with) got into a fist fight RIGHT ON STAGE! That was the last straw for Clapton and Cream.
