No1ZeppelinFan Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Just finished and wondered what your opinion was who's read it? I thought it was quite good and generally accurate. Better than Hammer of the Gods. Quote
glicine Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 It's an amusing read, but generally accurate? And a lot of stuffs in Hammer of the Gods came from Richard Cole, if I remember correctly. Quote
reswati Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 It's an amusing read, but generally accurate? And a lot of stuffs in Hammer of the Gods came from Richard Cole, if I remember correctly. It gave me a good laugh (especially the Bonham at the art gallery incident)....more or less the same as Hammer, only told differently. Led Zeppelin as soap food. Quote

No1ZeppelinFan Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 How did you reach that conclusion? Oh, So all the Tour dates, Concerts, Persons present, Karac, Plants accident are wrong? I see Quote
MeanMrKetchup Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I enjoyed it Bonzo did some weird things sometimes... Quote
Knebby Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Oh, So all the Tour dates, Concerts, Persons present, Karac, Plants accident are wrong? I see and that makes it "generally accurate"? Y'know what - you aren't arguing this point with me. The surviving members described it as crap and mostly inaccurate. Tell us they are wrong. Quote

Knebby Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Er no - actually just responding to the thread. Sorry if you wanted me to praise the book and I didn't - its just that it's a nasty piece of work written by someone with an axe to grind - who's probably pretty sorry that he ever did it. As for the "always one in every thread" remark - yeah, you said it. Quote

It wasnt great it wasnt bad, Just a decent enough read. Quote
eternal light Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I wonder who has written the most accurate account. Quote
BlackDog71 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 It's a good read, but not everything in there is 100% true. If the band members have issues, then something has to be wrong. Still entertaining though. Quote

No1ZeppelinFan Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 (edited) I wonder who has written the most accurate account. I wonder as well. Any others recommended by anyone? Biography type. Tried the new one "When Giants walked the earth" but didnt like the way it was written with the fantasy/thoughts of the band. You know what I mean? Edited May 18, 2009 by No1ZeppelinFan Quote
glicine Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 No problem Knebby. You're just as biased as the surviving band members. Quote
Chanella Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 (edited) I like all the Zeppelin Books, they all tell a story. Edited May 18, 2009 by Chanella Quote
Chanella Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 but, saying that my favourite ot of all these books about Led Zeppelin has to be My brother John, by Mick Bonham, a friend sent me this book, it was so informative, and had some lovely pictures of The Bonham Family, and I found it a very sad book, but, nicely set out and written. Chanella Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 who??? I think you have made a mistake, who is Pauline? my name is Cara. Quote
Hotplant Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 The truth and nothing but the truth...will never be told. But, that's ok. Best left to the people who were there. Quote
Chanella Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Ok whatever, but - have to add there are some funny people round here,lol..... Quote
JimmyPageZoSo56 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I like it way more than Hammer of the Gods because it was a first hand experience and more detailed. Quote
