GeorgeC Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 You know those great moments in songs when the singer lets the guitarist or other instrumentalist do his or her thing - some of their lead-ins are as exciting as the solos themselves. Here's a quick selection of what I'm talking about: Led Zeppelin "Trampled Under Foot" Drive on! The Doors "Roadhouse Blues" Do it, Robbie, do it! AC/DC "Have a Drink on Me" Get stoned! AC/DC "You Ain't Got a Hold on Me" Oh, let me be! Led Zeppelin "Communication Breakdown" Suck! Jimi Hendrix "Stone Free" Turn me loose, baby The Beatles "I Saw Her Standing There" Auuughhhh! Lots more where these came from. Who wants to add their own favorites? Quote
Levee Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Need Your Loving Tonight by Queen- Freddie yells out "Hit Me!"before Brian comes in with the solo. Quote
Strider Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 3 obvious ones that immediately come to mind are these: Since I've Been Loving You (studio version) - Robert says "Watch out!" Watch out, indeed, as Jimmy rips into one of his most emotive solos ever. In My Time of Dying (live @ Earl's Court 75) - Robert before the second slide solo quotes "Hey Joe" with the lines "So I gave her the gun and I shot her" as Jimmy lays her body to waste with a fusillade of bottleneck bullets. Nobody's Fault But Mine (live on the 77 tour) - Robert does his best Steve Martin imitation exclaiming "Jimmy? Oh Jimmy? Well, EXCUSE ME!", as Jimmy says out of the way Goldilocks, time for me to shred this Les Paul. Quote
tom kid Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 In 1977 Robert quite often said 'awww suck it' before the solo in SIBLY. Quote

badgeholder Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Jimi Hendrix - 'She ain't said a damn thing about leaving. But that's okay, I still got my guitar...' -Red House Quote
Kiwi_Zep_Fan87 Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) In the song "It's Late", Freddie says "Oooh! Tell Me!", before Brian pretty much kicks ass! Edited April 28, 2011 by Kiwi_Zep_Fan87 Quote
Gospel Zone Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Rolling Stones-"Sympathy For The Devil" in the movie Gimme Shelter.......Mick Jagger goes; "You can get on out now" and the Keith goes into his solo. The Get Yer Ya,Ya's Out version of the same song is great too has Mick just screams "ah wew!" Quote
greenman Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Surely it has to be Maggot Brain by Funkadelic? "Mother earth is pregant for the third time, y'all have knocked her up. I have tasted the maggot in the mind of the universe, I was not offended. I knew I had to rise above it all or drown in my own shit" Quote
